What a surprise that Cons can't do basic research. Over the weekend, while nation-wide attention was focused on the racist comments reportedly made by Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, some conservative commentators were focused on something else: Sterling's party affiliation. Specifically, certain conservatives were taking the media to task for supposedly ignoring Sterling's ties to the Democratic Party. But a bit of context was missing. Sterling is a registered Republican. A search of The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder's website using Sterling's name, date of birth, and address turns up a Republican registration, and the registrar-recorder's office confirmed the information to TPM on Monday. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/donald-sterling-registered-republican
You didn't scroll down to the end where this nugget is....... By Monday afternoon, The National Review had updated its piece on Sterling's political ties. The correction read as follows: "An earlier version of this post identified Sterling as a Democrat. Although his political donations appear to have been exclusively to Democrats, his official party affiliation is not known. A Clippers did not respond to requests for his present political affiliation."
There is nothing interesting about that nugget except the part where National Shit Review identified someone as a Democrat without any PROOF. Are they calling Donald Trump a Democrat because he too donated to Dems once. This is what the lying Cons were saying yesterday. "Report: Clippers Owner Caught In Racist Rant Is A Democratic Donor" â Fox Nation. "NBA Sterling is a Democrat..." â Matt Drudge. "Race Hate Spewing Clippers Owner Is Democratic Donor" â the Daily Caller. "Media Ignoring Dem Donations of LA Clippers' Owner, Allegedly Caught on Tape in Race-Based Rant" â NewsBusters. "LA Clippers Owner Donald Sterling is a Racist Democrat" â the Tea Party News Network. Now, it's *crickets* Romney in a landslide moment again.
NAACP don't have a 'closet racist' detector, you have to actually say racist shit to be labeled a racist by the NAACP.
FAIL! In 2009, the Los Angeles chapter of the NAACP honored Donald Sterling with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Soon after the announcement was made, much of the world learned of Sterling's unrepentant racism thanks to Elgin Baylor's employment discrimination lawsuit. From the Los Angeles Times, in 2009: Clippers owner Donald Sterling, accused of racism and embracing a "vision of a Southern plantation-type structure" in a lawsuit filed in February by Elgin Baylor, will be given a lifetime achievement award next week by the NAACP. . . . Leon Jenkins, president of the Los Angeles branch of the civil rights organization, says of the much-maligned Sterling, "He has a unique history of giving to the children of L.A.," revealing that the owner donates anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 tickets a game to youth groups for nearly every Clippers home game. Noting that the NAACP had made plans to honor Sterling before Baylor filed suit, Jenkins says, "We can't speak to the allegations, but what we do know is that for the most part [Sterling] has been very, very kind to the minority youth community." The NAACP's Los Angeles chapter has now twice combined an awful decision with even worse timing. On May 15, 2014, Donald Sterling is set to receive another Lifetime Achievement Award. Sterling also won the 2008 NAACP Presidents Award.
So the LA chapter of NAACP is run by a bunch of morons. What has this got to do with the fact that the right wing morons who said Sterling was a Democrat - you know, the subject of this thread. Are you attempting a deflection? Say it isn't so!
