I have come up with a an extremely simple EOD system for trading SPY. This system works very well for SPY which tends to be trendless. Other ETFs like DIA, IWM works too but not very good.
This a End of Day (EOD) system. I will give the signal at the end of day. The trade will be entered at the close of the following trading day. There will be plenty of time for any one who like to verify the working of this system.

The system issued a short signal on 10/29. A short position was entered @153.06 on close of market on 10/30. This signal will not be counted since that was generated before this journal started. I just like to mention it so that everyone is clear on the current position I am in, also to show how the trade was entered. I will give the long signal as soon as the system generate it. The system is always in the market. When long signal is generated, the short position is closed and a long position entered. As it is a EOD system, please be patient. I intend to keep track of my trades here for a period of 3 months. Then I will decide weather to carry on or not.

The system generated a buy signal. I will buy 100 of SPY at the close of market, 11/7/07.

Actually I freak out. I did not take the trade. I dare not catch a falling knife. The above is just for the record, if trade according to my system.

Sensing a rebounce, i enter long @147.45 10:04. Anyway, i will not discuss how i trade the system any more as it create stress in my trading. My purpose here is to show how a backtested system which performed well in the past will perform in live. If at the end of three months, the system doesnt work, then i might try another way to trade the market. A more discretionary approach, perhaps.
