The best scenario is for them to come about 1 seat short. The same legislation will get passed regardless of who holds the chamber so they have no benefit from winning the Senate. However if they do win, they will at the least have to put up bills that will be vetoed. The dems will use the substance of those bills for attacks. The strategy the repubs need, is to come up just short of winning the Senate in 2014, then go for the sweep in 2016. If they pull the sweep off, then they will actually be able to get stuff through. If they do win the Senate in 2014, it wont help them get anything through and it makes the sweep harder to do.
interesting point... there is also the possibility some democrats would cross over to if it meant keeping their jobs. For instance I think sealing the border could and should be veto proof.
"get stuff through"? What, are you a closet liberal? Is that your idea of a successful congress? One that "gets stuff through"? The best us libertarians can hope for is a moratorium. Peace in the land. A temporary stop to the onslaught of the government "getting stuff through." You think it's bad now, just wait until one party gets in control. Last time that happened we got ACA. No matter how bad democrats are, republicans can always be worse. Best is to divide it up and keep them arguing so nothing can "get through." And if it ever does "get through" you can bet the government is winning and the people are getting screwed.
"Us Libertarians"? You consider yourself a Libertarian, yet you advocate for food stamps for everyone? Wow, there must be a new class of Libertarian out there I've not yet heard of.
yes, there is, and many small minded shallow so called "conservatives" stop listening as soon as we say something that doesn't pass the republican litmus test
Yeah, there is a shitload of stuff that needs to be pushed through to fix the problems that were caused by the last two idiot Presidents. Also, there are these little things called Supreme Court appointments that need to happen. You can do anything you want in the Legislative or Executive branches, but if you have a Court the legislates from the bench its all for nothing. No more Hagan's, no more racist 'wise latinas', no more sexist Ginsburgs.
You ain't libertarian. Let me guess you are probably a Bill Maher fan too. There is no such thing as a big government libertarian.
no, I don't watch anything unless it is on DTV basic. And that doesn't include HBO. But I do watch a lot of msnbc. Their propaganda is a lot more entertaining than the right wing propaganda on FOX.
