Hi folks, sorry to bother you again with another of my beginner's questions:

Say I short sell a Put and the option of the counterparty expires worthless.
When will my margin (and the credit earned) usually be released by the broker
so that I can reuse the funds for new trades?
Is it the Monday after the expiration date? Will it be available at market opening or sometime later?

    Thx

Sure, why not? I'm not religious or that stuff :D
As I attempt to trade mainly weeklys, then opening a position on Friday that expires next Friday
would be ideal, but even that is not possible if one doesn't have excess funds.
So then it seems Monday is the day for opening new positions.
Ie. a kind of time-optimization that I seek...

The current expiration day of Friday is not ideal, it should be Thursday, and weeklys should start trading Thursday, and expire on the next Thursday, so that one can on Friday open new positions for the next week... That would be ideal.

It was just a hypothetical answer, much like your question whether I would trade on Saturdays...

maybe it's time you started to read up on options instead of asking basic questions here ...
