Disney tried to pull study on nutrition: Report Christine Wang | @christiiineeee 23 Hours AgoCNBC.com COMMENTSThe Walt Disney Company tried to withdraw a nutritional study it funded on meals served at Disney World. The company asked the authors of the study to not publish it, according to emails obtained by health news site STAT News. Disney was reportedly concerned about its involvement with one of the authors of the study, James Hill, director of the Center for Human Nutrition at the University of Colorado Health Services Center. Hill came under fire last summer when he collaborated with Coca-Cola on research that aimed to redirect the conversation on obesity so that it focused more on exercise and less on diet. A Disney spokesman told STAT that the company wasn't sure it was wise to publish the study "given the recent issues regarding Dr. Hill." The researcher defended the study. Hill told STAT he was disappointed that "companies like Disney have to worry about negative PR from funding research." ‹ Will soft drink firms sue the UK over sugartax? Starbucks responds to ‘scandalous’ sugaraccusation STAT said that the emails it received didn't suggest that Disney influenced the results of the study. However emails did show that the company had the chance to approve a press release. The study also contained a disclosure that implied Disney had no influence in the study's design, analysis or writing. However sources told STAT that the disclosure is dishonest based on what was discovered in the emails the publication obtained. Disney and Hill did not immediately respond to CNBC's requests for comment. http://www.cnbc.com/2016/04/08/disney-tried-to-pull-study-on-nutrition-report.html
I doubt it - it seems more likely that they'll cut down on the sugar content, using more artificial sweeteners instead, which is probably the real intention anyway. The legislation may well be "revisited", though, before it actually becomes law: at the moment, many influential parties are (rightly) pointing out that it's ludicrous that some mineral/vitamin drinks are to be taxable while milk-shake drinks, many of which contain far more sugar, aren't.
I have noticed of late soft drinks have been changing from corn syrup to real sugar. I think many companies are going to stop using some of the artificial sweeteners, Doctors in UK said reason I had five years ago Fibromyalgeria was hormones in meats, dairy, fats, and some artificial sweeteners-my body could not digest it any more, I was taking so many pain killers, so overnight I changed my diet, I noticed I didn't get cravings for food any more and lost 150lbs in 2.5 years, Fibromyalgeria went away in about a year. Friends I have asked to stop artificial sweeteners for couple months said their appetite was reduced. Most likely "milk shakes" they will argue the milk is for bones where a Coke is for rust. I drink the worst are Starbucks lattes and sugary drinks, I go often to Starbucks but for straight coffee, has high caffeine for me to stay awake as I have another delightful disease called Sarcoidosis, incurable, but not deadly.
I know someone that lost about 40 pounds in about 6 months by knocking out all preservatives, artificial ingredients, MSG and gluten. This person person did not exercise before or after or limit caloric intake. It makes you think. It's a hard road to hoe but is probably worth it if you can make the time and stay on track.
Some products I hear on TV has changed by getting rid of food coloring and forgot what else it was for cheese and mac https://www.change.org/p/kraft-stop-using-dangerous-food-dyes-in-our-mac-cheese If I am not mistaken, the color dyes does something to kids that have what? That MSG, I am so allergic to that stuff, closes my throat and labor to breath.
It sounds like a late night infomercial, and I would not believe it if I had not seen it with my own eyes.
You must be in America, I'm guessing? Corn syrup is pretty widely used in soft drinks there; very much less so elsewhere. You may be right, but my own guess is that in the UK, in response to the proposed "sugar tax", there'll be at least a short-term increase in the use of aspartame, stevia, and so on. Tremendous result - well done. Fibromyalgic syndrome is increasingly widely attributed to dietary/nutritional factors, in its exacerbation if not its original causation. Yes indeed: I think this is exactly how the lobbying argument goes. (And there's an element of truth in it, of course, as is typically the case with these things.) My understanding of Sarcoid is that it's self-limiting, and it tends to go away, eventually? (I'm guessing that you're avoiding steroid therapy for it?). It's one of those things always listed in the chapter called "Rarer disorders of unknown aetiology", isn't it? Wishing you well with it ...
My Sarcoidosis has turned to be one for the 5% and chronic, before every seven years it would pop up and doctors didn't have a clue why all the drugs they had could not fight the high fevers and I be in isolation in hospital for three weeks. I use to work for gov't and I be around drug dogs each night, one of the symptoms is smelling ability is many times over better than most dogs, always had contests of me against the dogs and I would always smelled more grass, sometimes cocaine, exhaust fumes, can smell where near Starbucks in cities I never been. I can smell flavors of spices in foods. Once had to end relationship of GF cause her sweat was the worst and yet everyone said she smelled very nice. I also have an extra chromosome, so Klinefelders syndrome, so medical schools love me. Seven years ago I was placed on steroids and gained 254lbs, always hungry, so extra weight turned body into sickness funnel and got cancers, Fibro, nerve endings problems and of course lung problems associated with Sarcoid. I took much more active roll in my health. I finally took myself off steroids and started taking Tumeric, India spice, took whole eight months for it to get rid of much of inflammation, went to eating veggies and lost weight but other 90lbs is right now tough to unload and I am still taking chemo treatments but near remission. But getting closer to be as well as I can get and going to bug out and travel on my RV bus, visit with people I mentor or former students and stay few days and trade. And thank you.
