Amongst the retail brokers, who offers the best options education? Here are some contenders: Charles Schwab E*TRADE Fidelity Interactive Brokers optionsXpress Scottrade ShareBuilder TD Ameritrade thinkorswim TradeKing tradeMONSTER TradeStation Zecco Thanks for your help!
Schwab has a decent platform for internet trading. It has an options department with options specialists who will guide you and are knowledgeable. Schwab also has seminars and webinars clients can sign up for. Scottrade recently rolled out Scottrade-Optionsfirst because Scottrade was so weak with options. The only trades you could do were covered calls and long purchases and the platform was not that great. Their brokerage agreements spell out they can give you help placing a trade but that is it. The platform is much imroved with Optionsfirst. They have some tools, and options specialsts, although I am not sure how good their education is after the merger. Good luck Tom
My answer is "none of the above," compared to the CBOE educational materials. Their collection of webinars has just about everything you need, to educate yourself on options trading. My favorite instructors are Jim Bittman and Dan Sheridan. There is no charge for any of this. IMO, if you pay more than one red cent for options education, you are paying too much.
If willing to go beyond brokers - and you should - use the CBOE and OIC web sites. http://www.cboe.com/LearnCenter/default.aspx http://www.optionseducation.org/ Also check out a blog that I write for Option Rookies. Some topics will be too advanced for you right now, but if you go to the archives and look at the beginning Jun/Jul 2008), you will find material of interest to you. Mark http://blog.mdwoptions.com/
