NM Man Gets Big Settlement For Police Misconduct

  1. There was a thread about this case earlier. Anyway, the cops pulled this guy ovr for allegedly rolling through a stop sign, then got him to consent to dog search of his car, which turned u0 nothing, but they took him to a hospital and some dirtbag doctor probed his butt, then did a couple of colonoscopies on him without consent. They found nothing.

Colonoscopies are not without risk. I had a relative recently suffer a perforated bowel during one, and she almost died.

Anyway, the guy got a $1.6 mill settlement. Hopefully the cops got fired but I suppose that is wishful thinking. I hope he also sued the hospital and doctors involved. They deserve to pay up big. They really deserve to go to jail. This is gulag type behavior. You don't force surgery on a person with zero evidence that he is hiding drugs.

Unfortunately, it is the poor taxpayers who will have to pay this settlement.

Maybe Odumbocare covered the colonoscoopy as a preventive service. Seriously, anyone who had anything to do with this should be fired. Sadly, police are often part of some union ... so firing them is next to impossible. I saw that when I worked in the auto industry and saw UAW guys got drunk at lunch, sleep on the job or smoke reefer. Consequence ... nothing.
