"91% of [Covid-19] stories by U.S. major media outlets are negative in tone versus 54% for non-U.S. major sources...The negativity of the U.S. major media is notable even in areas with positive scientific developments...”

I wonder why this would be?

Here is the paper if you care to read it.

  2. Yeah, I'm surprised COVID didn't get more favorable coverage.

Considering that the U.S. has over 250,000 deaths and one of the worst responses in the world to COVID. That should certainly generate lots of positive press.

  4. Yeah. And just like when Trump says or does something really stupid, why all the negative coverage? Seems so unbalanced.

Ranked #11. and France is right below. The question would be how the press is responding in countries "even worse". And the NBER has that data. It doesn't fit your narrative, though.

They are reporting the disasters in countries Americans "care" about, like Italy, Spain, and France (Peru and Bosnia, not so much). They have been from the start.

The question is not whether they are reporting "disasters" - they are, as you say. But the ratio of positive to negative spin is the discussion point. That's the point of the paper.

American media is a bunch of unprofessional whiny little bitches who hate trump and
    still cry to mommy.
