Recently a lot of hubbub had been made about the possibility that the peaceful tea party protests and some conservative voices would stir up emotions that could lead to violence. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was even one of those sounding that alarm.

But what has gone unsaid by those same voices has been the possibility of violence against those who might take a position antithetical to that of the left.

Case in point: CNN's Lou Dobbs. Dobbs, who has been the target of a smear campaign by the left-wing noise machine, told his radio audience on Oct. 26 that his home had been shot at three weeks earlier.

"But I want to tell you, when you talk about what they've done - they've created an atmosphere and they've been unrelenting in their propaganda," Dobbs said. "Three weeks ago this morning, a shot was fired at my house where I live. My wife was standing out and that followed weeks and weeks of threatening phone calls."

Dobbs detailed the event, the notification of law enforcement and threatening phone calls he had received after the fact.

"And, as I told the state patrol, and by the way, the New Jersey State Patrol is absolutely terrific - they responded instantly. But this shot was fired with my wife not, I don't know, 15 feet away and we had threatening phone calls that I decided not to report because I get threatening phone calls," Dobbs continued. "I now - it's become a way of life - the anger, the hate, the vitriol, but it's taken a different tone where they've threatened my wife. They've now fired a shot at my house while my wife was standing next to the car. It's become something else."

The CNN host later took a shot at the "national liberal media," which he claims has taken a side on the immigration issue and has created this sort of reckless environment.

"But we've got to start being honest," Dobbs said. "Instead, the national liberal media has chosen sides and they've decided that they're going to focus on the liberal view, which is that they will embrace illegal immigration - no matter who is harmed, no matter how many laws are broken or how few consequences there are for breaking those laws."

Dobbs had been attacked by Fox News host Geraldo Rivera earlier and told his listeners that following these events that he was in no mood for attacks from Rivera.

"My wife has now been, and I have been, shot at, our driver," Dobbs said. "My house has been shot and hit. An investigation continues. I've had bodyguards now and you know what, I'm not in the mood to put up with little fools like Geraldo Rivera."

  2. i wonder which recently banned wingnut has reincarnated himself as popsickle?
  3. This is the typical leftist response. You cannot intelligently debate the topic, so you attack the messenger.
  4. whats to debate. there is no proof it was a leftist that shot at his house. could just as easily been a conservative pissed at cnn.
how about letting us know who you used to be. no use going over old ground again.
  5. i suppose next you will try to tell me that these are leftists?

Obama Faces 30 Death Threats A Day: Book

Since Mr Obama took office, the rate of threats against the president has increased 400 per cent from the 3,000 a year or so under President George W. Bush, according to Ronald Kessler, author of In the President's Secret Service.

Some threats to Mr Obama, whose Secret Service codename is Renegade, have been publicised, including an alleged plot by white supremacists in Tennessee late last year to rob a gun store, shoot 88 black people, decapitate another 14 and then assassinate the first black president in American history.

  6. Some of these threats are crack pots. 30 a day would be over 10,000 a year. That is a sizable number.
  7. when you have fox news and right wing blogger conspiricy nuts stroking these crackpots daily you have to check them out. one might act.
  8. All I can say is these are some bad times politically for the US.

    Econ. crisis is not helping.
  9. Lou can't catch a break.
  10. i always thought the internet was the greatest invention ever and a great source of education and truth. it has not turned out that way. in many ways it has just given the crakpots a louder voice and helped spread ignorance.

  11. Somebody burned Sarah Palin's church to the tune of a million dollars in damage... Queers in California vowed revenge on contributors to Prop 8... pretty shitty level of "discourse" out of the left... it's always been that way, just catch the James Carville act sometime, it's enough to make one ill...

  12. Yeah, Carville's time is up too. He serves no useful purpose anymore. Remember the violent acts of leftists in the late 1960's.
    early 1970's?
  13. in terms of damage who has done more violence. left or right. has anyone on the left inflicted as much damage as the right winger tim mcvey in the oklahoma bombings?
  14. to that extent, no one person has done that much damage.

the actual incidents during the 60's and 70's were much more numerous however compared with today.
  15. Arrests at the DNC 152 and at the RNC 800 plus.
  16. Obama's buddy Bill Ayers certainly tried.

  17. The fact that he is involved with the adm. should be a red-flag to all Americans.
  18. I'd guess gummivogel/rubberbird_50. But, we haven't heard from pabstprime in several days...
  19. "I'm not in the mood to put up with little fools like Geraldo Rivera."

I'd like to see someone throw a chair at Geraldo again. :D
  20. so it seems lou dobbs has a fertile mind:

Think Progress reports that it spoke with New Jersey State Police spokesman Sgt. Stephen Jones, who confirmed that a bullet had struck the side of Dobbs house -- but that a hunting accident had not been ruled out as the cause.

He pointed out that Dobbs' residence is located in a "very rural" area. "With hunting season starting up," such incidents are "not at all uncommon," Jones told us.
  21. Was Dick Cheney in the area by chance?

  22. this guy seems to be trying to become the glen beck of cnn. conspiricy nutcase.

New Jersey state police seem to be contradicting CNN Host Lou Dobbs' account of a gunfire incident near his Sussex County, New Jersey, house.

On Monday on his radio show, Dobbs stated that "my wife has now been and I have been shot at." The alleged incident, which Dobbs had reported to the New Jersey State Police, took place three weeks prior to the October 26 broadcast of the Lou Dobbs Show, and Dobbs told his listeners that it had "followed weeks and weeks of threatening phone calls." Dobbs' discussion of the incident during his radio show also included mention of both longtime critic and FOX host Geraldo Rivera and the immigrant advocacy organizations calling for his removal from CNN including the National Council of La Raza, America's Voice and other "ethnocentric interest groups."

Without specifying who he suspects of making the alleged threats, he also said on his radio show that "They've threatened my wife, they've now fired a shot at my house while my wife was standing next to the car." Concluding with a call for "truth, justice and the American way," Dobbs cautioned "if anybody thinks that we're not engaged in the battle for the soul of this country right now, you're sorely mistaken." And during an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Thursday, Dobbs spoke again about the gunfire incident, linking it to "threatening phone calls tied to the positions I've taken on illegal immigration."

Interviews with the New Jersey State Police yielded a rather different assessment of the events described by Dobbs. In a phone interview conducted yesterday, Sgt. Stephen Jones, a NJ State Police spokesperson, chuckled out loud after he heard about Dobbs' account of the gunfire incident. Jones commented that he "wouldn't classify it [the gunfire incident] as very unusual." He also confirmed that there are hunters in the area, and stated that, "at this time of year hunter [shooting] complaints go up."

He observed that in the ongoing police investigation sparked by Dobbs' complaint, "nothing has been determined [regarding] what the intended target for this bullet was." Nor did Jones confirm whether the shots near Dobbs' house appeared to be an accident or intentional.

Another New Jersey State Police spokesperson, Sgt. Julian Castellanos, noted that "it's a wide open area and there are hunters in the area." Castellanos explained that the bullet had hit the house in vicinity of the attic; it "hit the vinyl siding and fell to the ground" without penetrating the vinyl, he said.

While Lou Dobbs' wife, Debi Lee Segura, was standing outside the house at the time of the gunfire, the bullet did not come close to her; it "struck at the apex of the house, near the roof," and thus considerably higher than a standing person, Jones observed.

Jones says he had not seen any mention of death threats in the reports about this incident. As Dobbs stated on his October 26 radio show, the CNN host had "decided not to report" "threatening phone calls" he says he has received.

The New Jersey police made no mention of the immigration reform groups Dobbs discussed in connection with the incident.

When asked to comment for this story, Dobbs disputed the New Jersey State Police's account, saying in an email that "there was no hunting season underway three weeks ago." However, an official at the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife Bureau of Law Enforcement confirmed in a phone interview that state hunting seasons were underway at the time of the gunfire incident three weeks ago.

Asked what he thought of Dobbs' version of the gunfire incident, Sgt. Jones stated, "I'm really going to leave Lou Dobbs' assessment to himself."

New Jersey state police seem to be contradicting CNN Host Lou Dobbs' account of a gunfire incident near his Sussex County, New Jersey, house. On Monday on his radio show, Dobbs stated that "my wife ...

  23. is this another case of you debating while never reading the story?ie "dont bother me with the facts my mind is already made up"? i made it easy for you.
  24. Have you lost your mind?

You're now trying to defend the idea that a conservative took the shot?

Or are you just trying to be extraordinary (which for a liberal is just ordinary) in making sure you prove it wasn't one of your offspring?
  25. The slot is open now that Glenn Beck is no longer the Glenn Beck of CNN. :D

I am constantly amused at the righties calling CNN "super-liberal" and similar nonsense when CNN launched the TV career of Glenn Beck and still has mostly conservative Lou Dobbs as their premier commentator.

Reading that NJ state police account reminds me of Morton Downey Jr. with the backwards swastika painted on his face. or the backwards-B girl from the 2008 campaign. Dobbs has definitely entered conspiracy-nut territory.
