Listen Reps -- this guy is your last best chance and every minute you waste on somebody else is another nail in the party's coffin. You lost the middle - - the talk shows are correct on this. Don't even think of Rudy, Frist, Romney or any of these other Tier 2 and 3 "brittle" possibilities. Every one of them has fatal flaws in their vitaes or temperment. So smarten up.
So smarten up. Despite your recommendation , I think we will still have a Repulican primary where Republican candidates can civilly present their case to their supporters. (Don't expect the same from the Democrats, ask Joe Lieberman about that) Dont kid yourself, people didn't vote for democrats. The country is still very leery of Democrats and their policies.
That must be why South Dakota voters overturned the state abortion ban. That's South Dakota in case you missed it, that's not Massachusets.
_________________________________________________ Wrong as usual. SD turned the ban down because it was for all abortions whatsoever, so exception for rape, incest, health of the mother, etc. In contrast 7 out of 8 states forbid gay marriage. So far of the 29 states floating an initiative 28 have passed. What's that percent. 96.6%
Wrong as usual. SD turned the ban down because it was for all abortions whatsoever, so exception for rape, incest, health of the mother, etc. So SD voters rejected conservative, republican agenda and are much more in line with the democratic position on this issue. And SD is a very conservative state. In contrast 7 out of 8 states forbid gay marraige. So far of the 29 states floating an initiative 28 have passed. What's that percent. 96.6% Fair enough but keep in mind while some dems support gay marriages, an equal or bigger number of them don't (John Kerry is just one example). On balance the dems much better reflect the mood in this country , which is pro-abortion, pro gay-unions and against gay marriages.
Authorities have stepped up an investigation of U.S. Sen. Bob Menendezâs relationship with a federally funded non-profit organization just days after his hard-fought election victory, according to a senior government official. The official said FBI agents served subpoenas on Thursday and Friday seeking information related to the North Hudson Community Action Corp., which paid more than $300,000 over nine years to rent a Union City building from then U.S. Rep. Menendez. AKM ________________________________________________ The Dems. in NJ just elected this guy which shows where they will go. Mind you they didn't throw this guy out they elected him. Also there is talk of a federal investigation into Harry Reid. This clean up corruption talk from the Dems is going to be very short lived. NJ is a horrible example of leadership and corruption.
I voted for Menendez here in NJ and I did it with a heavy heart, I certainly blame Corzine for naming Menendez as his successor. But of course in light of what has happened during the last 6 years, Kean's appeal that we need him, a repubican to fight corruption sounded like a sick joke to me and other NJ voters. Besides as you well know the elections were nationalized, the corruption in Washingon was of immensly bigger concern to NJ voters than the corruption in Trenton.
I support John... And McCain would be a lock in the general election. Problem is... in any normal year (and 2008 may not be "normal")... He has a zero chance of winning the GOP primaries... Because they are very conservative ideologically. In 2000, when they reached the South... John was crushed by GWB... And these voters are extremely unlikely to embrace the Moral Relativism... Of the Democrat's "most electable" standard... Which didn't work anyway.
If McCain is put up, then the prize is going to be his running mate. No way McCain lives through being president. McCain is dead man walking...
McCain has traded in his Maverick badge for the status of pro-war Bush lapdog. Bad trade if you ask me, I am highly doubtful this will bode well with voters in 2008. He did not make new friends among rightwingers and he alianated a significant number of dems/independends who used to have a lot of respect for him. Just like John Kerry, McCain is damaged goods.
