The easiest way for a team owner to address the issue is to simply not play the national anthem before games --- thereby avoiding all the controversy. Keeping quiet about it and not making a statement is wise on Cuban's part as well. If these teams were U.S. national teams playing in the Olympics, World Cup, etc. then I can see the need to play (and have the players respect) the national anthem when you represent the U.S. playing on an international stage. If you are a sports team in the U.S. -- unless you have tie-ins to the military presenting at your games -- at this point it is probably best not play the national anthem and avoid upsetting your fans on both sides of the issue of players disrespecting it. This also eliminates the "stage" for players trying to make political statements while "on the job".

When I was kid the nfl used to cut to the announcers or commercial during the national anthem. I don’t even recall it being played at nba games when I was a kid. Baseball was always different but the national anthem always fit there because baseball is America’s past time- kind of on brand.
