Trump said in a statement today that whether or not Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, the U.S. will stand by Saudi Arabia.

I hope the house passes retaliatory measures if anything just to cost Trump Saudi money.

Trump issues new statement on Jamal Khashoggi — and he repeats Saudi smears of him as a Muslim Brotherhood operative

President Donald Trump on Tuesday issued a new statement on murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi in which he repeated smears circulated by Saudi government officials that painted him as an operative for the Muslim Brotherhood.

Although Trump condemned Khashoggi’s murder in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, he made sure to include statements made to him by Saudi officials about the late journalist’s purported political alliances.

“Representatives of Saudi Arabia say that Jamal Khashoggi was an ‘enemy of the state’ and a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, but my decision is in no way based on that — this is an unacceptable and horrible crime,” the president said.

Despite this, the president also defended the United States’ relationship with Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, all while casting doubt on whether Salman actually knew about the plot by Saudi intelligence officials to kill Khashoggi.

“Our intelligence agencies continue to assess all information, but it could very well be that the Crown Prince had knowledge of this tragic event – maybe he did and maybe he didn’t!” Trump said. “That being said, we may never know all of the facts surrounding the murder of Mr. Jamal Khashoggi. In any case, our relationship is with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. They have been a great ally in our very important fight against Iran.”

Trump has issued a very-Trumpian statement on Saudi Arabia and Khashoggi. There's a lot going on in this one.

Saudi imams preach anti-American rhetoric in Saudi schools. Saudi Arabia is funding ISIL in Syria. A Saudi blockade of Yemen is starving millions of civilian women and children. Saudi Arabia is the world's largest source of funds and promoter of Salafist jihadism, the ideological basis of terrorist groups such as al-Qaeda, the Taliban, ISIL, etc. Saudi Arabian billionaires fund terrorism in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

But Trump isn't going to do anything that might jeopardize his family's business dealings with the Saudi royals. What's a little murder between friends.

Bad move, if he was worried about the media being biased, they'll now turn every pebble looking for Trump dirt.

    Imagine Obama pulling this crap?

This Saudi prince is against the Saudi establishment. Remember they wanted to kill him in Vegas. A week later he imprisoned those men (uncles, relatives, etc).

I believe this guy could work well with Trump. Muslim Brotherhood and terrorism fundings were done by the Saudi establishment, not this prince.
