Nobody is forcing anyone to buy a lottery ticket. Personal responsibility doesn’t know rich from poor.
I think it's foolish to drop thousands and thousands on lottery tickets, because it doesn't increase your chances every week, but buying one ticket every once in a while hurt no one.
Stories from years back about the Colorado lottery... Somebody/group bought every possible combination of lotto numbers to make sure they would win the jackpot. Unfortunately, there was more than one winner... so the group that "bought everything" only got a portion of their money back. Another time... the Colorado lotto jackpot was hit by "10 WINNERS". The jackpot was only $18MM... split 10 ways, only $1.8MM each. Turns out the winning numbers were the "4 corners of the quick-pick grid + the middle 2". Another time... Some gal had baked her boy friend a cake. But he wouldldn't eat it unless it was frosted. So he sent her to the store for some... and she bought a lotto ticket... that hit the jackpot for $26MM. In spite of the BF being a bit of a jerk, she married him anyway. Saw her on an episode of "Lotto Winners". She's apparently living a happy life with him and 3 kids in a Colorado mountain town.
My ex wife lives in Hilton Head, South Carolina. If she has the winning ticket I'm sure she'll give me a cut.
Oh Hell yeah! Just look at all the pro athletes who made $100MM or even $200MM over their careers (and Mike Tyson... $400MM)... Many bankrupt within a few years after retiring from sports. Seems they spent it all on bling and posse (that's with an "o").
Too much too fast. Most Lottery winners also end up with issues and/or broke. You need to be very well grounded to be a multi-millionaire or billionaire overnight. I know everyone thinks they would be able to handle it but it comes with a multitude of issues and problems.
