  1. Left: Obamacare 'Rate Shock' Doesn't Matter, Because Other People's Money Will Pay For It

Over the past twelve months, there has been an energetic debate among health policy researchers about the extent to which Obamacare will increase the underlying cost of individually-purchased health insurance: what observers have come to call “rate shock.” Yesterday, the Manhattan Institute published the most comprehensive study yet on the topic, analyzing premium data from 3,137 U.S. counties, and finding an average rate hike of 49 percent. In response, left-wing bloggers are trying out a new talking point: that rate shock doesn’t matter, because Other People’s Money will defray the higher costs.

And even those getting OPM (other people's money) seem to be challenged to pay the small net premium they are responsible for after their handout (i.e. subsidy).

Each day we see more and more denial from the liberals as they desperately try to twist most any negative about Odumbocare and portray it is some positive light.

  4. Democrats will blame evil insurance companies and greedy doctors.

Their plan all along was to string it out until after the 2014 and hopefully 2016 elections, so voters would be in the dark and only getting the media spin about how great it is.

For th emost part, they have been successful. Republicans are too cowardly to fight it and seem more concerned with undermining each other.

But this was math 101 from day 1. Premiums will have to go up given the sickest and most unhealthy are out there. And as more of them sign on the higher the average per patient cost. This is not like a low profit widget that's being sold where selling massive quantities produces a profit. Rather, the more of these sickly patients who enroll the worse the end result becomes as far as $$$$$. I think Odumbo & Company think they'll have a success as more people enroll regardless of how out of control costs become.

I still maintain there should be financial penalties for people who choose unhealthy lifestyles and thus an incentive to become fit & healthy. Higher premiums for those who abuse their body and lower premiums for those who focus on fitness.

  6. Of course it was Math 101, but math is hard.

Obama and Pelosi as well as the media assured us it would save money. We would also be able to keep our doctors and existing health plans.

People are gullible, what can I say.

  7. Obamacare's Prognosis Grows Dimmer

A nightmare for Affordable Care Act supporters has been the possibility that only the sick would be left to purchase insurance through its exchanges, driving premiums up and insurers out. While the law’s boosters have been quick to dismiss the possibility that such a so-called death spiral could occur, data published in the Wall Street Journal suggest that this chain of events may not be so far-fetched after all.

  8. I'm not real clear on how these exchanges work. If an individual need sto get a policy, do they have to go through the exchanges? I used to get mine straight from the insurer. Why would you need an exchange anyway?
