Latency

Discussion in 'Networking and Security' started by TinFoilHat, Sep 21, 2022.

  1. Would appreciate any tips to improve latency.
    Done all the obvious.

Clearing AMP, using the Quantower software.

Wondering what my Windows Defender settings should be.
    Considering switching from Xfinity.

    Any suggestions gratefully received
including where I can find help if this not the place.

    Thank you!

What do you mean exactly by 'latency'?
Cause pure latency is only a matter of distance.
Are you referring to response time from the time your order is sent from the time you receive the fill?

Fiber to the home/office setup should be faster. At least in my experience. XFinity also caps the upload bandwidth on most of their plans to around 5 MB/s last time I checked.

If you are using WiFi try plugging your computer directly into the router.

  7. Your profile says you live in Chicago. How about automating your trading system and colocate your server at the same data center that houses exchange servers?

    Sorry, too soon?

While cgdirector.com is focused on content creation, it has many articles regarding computer performance. Pnwcomputers.com has good computer security and performance information that is often quoted by other sites.

  8. You will have to be more specific about exactly what latency you are interested in lowering and what your measurements have been thus far. Or else you will get a very wide range of general answers.

  9. you should master general and special relativity then you might have an idea how things work

    Bandwidth is not latency.
