IRS: So⦠Our Computer Crashed And Erased All Of Lois Lernerâs Emails by Patrick Howley 4:16 PM 06/13/2014 The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) claimed Friday that it cannot produce Lois Lernerâs emails to and from the White House and other administration departments due to a supposed computer crash. The IRS previously agreed to hand over all of the ex-IRS officialâs emails from 2009 to 2011 to the House Ways and Means Committee, chaired by Rep. Dave Camp. But the IRS claimed Friday that it has Lernerâs emails to and from other IRS officials but it cannot produce emails to and from the Treasury and Justice Departments, the Federal Election Commission, or Democratic offices. The IRSâ computer crash may go down in history next to the eighteen and a half minute gap in the Watergate tapes, which was supposedly caused by a mistake by Richard Nixonâs secretary Rose Mary Woods. âThe fact that I am just learning about this, over a year into the investigation, is completely unacceptable and now calls into question the credibility of the IRSâs response to Congressional inquiries,â Camp said in a statement. âThere needs to be an immediate investigation and forensic audit by Department of Justice as well as the Inspector General.â âJust a short time ago, Commissioner Koskinen promised to produce all Lerner documents,â Camp continued. âIt appears now that was an empty promise. Frankly, these are the critical years of the targeting of conservative groups that could explain who knew what when, and what, if any, coordination there was between agencies. Instead, because of this loss of documents, we are conveniently left to believe that Lois Lerner acted alone. This failure of the IRS requires the White House, which promised to get to the bottom of this, to do an Administration-wide search and production of any emails to or from Lois Lerner. The Administration has repeatedly referred us back to the IRS for production of materials. It is clear that is wholly insufficient when it comes to determining the full scope of the violation of taxpayer rights.â http://dailycaller.com/2014/06/13/i...sed-all-of-lois-lerners-emails/#ixzz34YbPWGH4
The Obama administration reaches new levels of corrupt and incompetent almost daily. It's beyond words how the press and Congress are allowing this fiasco to continue.
In general, it's not a good idea ot have a new administration mounting criminal prosecutions against officials of the preceding one. Even Obama recognized that and called off any attempts by his more extreme partisans to prosecute Bush officials over supposed torture, etc. I have to say however that the continued defiance of both the law and congress by administration officials makes me wonder if this will be another precedent that is broken. Clearly there is an organized coverup going on, not just regarding the IRS but other scandals as well, eg Fast and Furious, Benghazi, Solyndra, VA, etc., as well as outright lawlessness on issues such as Obamacare and immigration. Congress has ample weapons to address this but they have to be willing to use them. The House can severely cut the budget for the IRS or some favored Obama project and use that as leverage, but they are clearly too timid to do so and Obama knows it. Of course, the republicans' dirty little secret is they are not all that upset that the IRS targeted the Tea Party groups. The republican establishment detests those groups but has to make a show of being outraged, much as Obama himself claimed to be outraged, then promptly deepsixed the investigation. In the case of the IRS and Lerner, the Nixon impeachment established the precedent that a coverup is grounds for removal from office. I would add that the wholesale refusal to enforce immigration laws is also grounds for impeachment. Too bad we have republican leaders who are spineless weasels.
I find boehner so lame. He takes pot shots at the president as if all he had was the power of the pen. He controls the budget. What the hell is wrong with him. If he is concerned enough to take a swipe in a press conference.. do something.
I don't believe the congress will ever move against O no matter what he does, and O knows it. They simply cannot be the congress that impeaches the first black prez. They can't even stop Holder who is in contempt of congress. And they won't move against the first female prez, either. We are truly fucked. Progressives rejoice.
Veteran IT Professional Gives Six Reasons Why the IRSâ Claim That It âLostâ Two Years of Lois Lernerâs Emails Is âSimply Not Feasibleâ http://www.theblaze.com/stories/201...f-lois-lerners-emails-is-simply-not-feasible/
Just saw this news release: "IRS Commissioner previously testified Lois Lerner emails were archived" Could it be that the Obama admin has decided that getting in trouble for purposely destroying emails would be better for them legally than letting the world see the emails and what the white house was really up to?
the fricken Rs need to send in the tech experts to go through the computers on Monday. you know they have the adminstration caught dead to rights on this. I want to know just how wiped those machines are. this is watergate type stuff
