30 day suspension for shoving over a parapalegic, if there was any justice in this world this piece of shit would be hanging from a tree, how much more cowardly can a person be than this?

It has become increasingly difficult to ignore that there is a rich history of cops abusing power. Since videocameras have become prevalent in public, evidence has unsurprisingly piled up that some officers are basically paid to be the same bullies they were in high school. What is surprising though, is that even all the video evidence in the world doesn't seem to bring police back from beyond reproach.

Example: Lt. Tom Davidson, of the Lafayette, Indiana LPD, pushed an innocent man out of his wheelchair, and he won't be fired for it.

This video was taken on Oct. 1, 2013 outside of a school. Police had just finished checking the victim, Nicholas Kincade, for weapons because the school called and alleged that Kincade had claimed to have a gun. All of the officers on the scene, including Davidson, determined that Kincade had no weapons. They issued Kincade--who has no use of his legs--a warning to not trespass onto school grounds, and then they sent him on his way, which Kincade did for about 3 feet before Davidson pushed him on his side and ironically arrested the paraplegic for assault.

Davidson was place on administrative leave during investigation of the incident. The officers who conducted the investigation, including Lafayette Police Chief Patrick Flannelly, recommended Davidson be fired. But he wasn't. The Lafayette Police Civil Service Commission voted 3-2 that he acted within LPD policies. They stripped Davidson of his rank, gave him 30 days unpaid suspension, and one year of probation, which is a weird way to handle a situation in which they'd just voted that Davidson acted within LPD policies. But I suppose that's how you slap someone on the wrist for a fireable offense.

I wore a badge. I would have arrested the cop on the spot for battery, and booked him just like anyone else who would have done that. Sure, the paraplegic wasn't obeying whatever "lawful" orders he was given, but DUH!!!!! Lift the guy's hand off the control stick, and he's not going anywhere. This is another reason I'm so glad I gave that job up long ago. The dumbing of America is certainly in the police departments as well as everywhere else.

He should have been arrested. He still should be.

It really amazes me that in the day and age of cameras evrywhere, these guys still do this kind of shit, i guess when no one ever prosecutes them, thats the reason why. You would think at some point the good cops on the police force would get tired of assholes like this making them look bad and they would turn on these guys. Like you said, if i was there i would have hit the guy, thats got to be the most obnoxious cheap shot ive ever seen.

The bottom line is like you said, people just arent paying attention, if ever there was a time to riot volently outside of a police station, it would be after an asshole like this got off, bottom line is this will continue to happen until they push people too far, but at some point there is going to be a breaking point.

I don't care if the police are dumb, I do care if they are militarized.

I've spoken about that before. When I did the job, the "cop magazines" advertised gun belts, shoes, blue lights, uniform trousers, name plates, badges, etc.,

Fast forward to a few years ago when a now old-timer State Trooper I worked with showed me a cop mag, and I thought I'd have a stroke. The ads were for elbow pads, knee pads, helmets, heavy body armor (for rifles rounds), riot gear, flash bang grenades, gloves with armored knuckles, goggles for fire fights, door breaching tools, and even fucking armored assault vehicles!!! Yep, I told him he needs to retire, and soon. He retired last year, and when we spoke recently, we were so down on today's LEO's, you'd think we were a couple of haters, or convicts. That's not the case. We're VERY angry over the complete abuse of powers, and the gubment encouraging it. We're angry over a job that was once to protect, and SERVE turning into a band of thugs and bullies.

We're both prior Military, and we KNOW what the difference should be between American police officers, and American Military personnel. The problem is, this shit is being encouraged by the US gubment, as they are relying on police departments to handle riot and crowd control when the shit hits the fan. If you knew the federal $ police departments are now receiving to buy this combat/tactical stuff, your head would pop off.

When I did the job, the FBI would literally wear out these shitheads for civil rights violations. Today? Shit! I can't remember the last time I've even heard of the FBI indicting LEO's for civil rights violations. Cops today have carte Blanche to hit you over the head with the same Constitution they swore to uphold...
