In Defense Of The Electoral College

  1. They're still the senator from the state of whatever. That's who they represent. I will admit, you did get me to think about one thing. Maybe presidential nominees are too much for the people to handle. There's no way in hell Trump would have been elected in the pre-primary days when everyday constituents weren't choosing nominees.

Reader---one further follow up ----The US is not a democracy. It is a Republic where The Senate exists to act on The State's behalf as a check on The People's House and as a check on the President and a check on The Judicial Branch. Any attempt such as direct election of senators to get to a more direct form of democracy waters down the intention of The Founders and weakens The US.

  3. I think this is where we are disagreeing. You're referring the "State" as the political body. I'm referring to it simply as the collection of its boundaries citizens. So maybe our argument has been rooted in semantics all along. If you want to repeal the 17th Amendment and go back to senators being elected by states legislatures I'm not that against it.

No----you're wrong. Most of them represent themselves.

I'm glad to hear that. Yes, that is what I would like to happen, but it never will.

  6. Well, I can't argue with that, but that's who they're supposed to represent.

  8. Thanks. Yeah, we can respectfully disagree and debate without the personal character attacks lol. Many people on here just want to troll with meme trash, but I think you are a genuinely conservative and we have different points of view on different things.

One man - one vote. This sounds good until you evaluate each and every person.

What is happening, and it will lead to the demise, is that the lower side of the curve is reproducing at a greater rate than the upper area.

If you are for dumming things down then Democrats are for you.

Dumb and then......dumber. Only in the USA
