In Defense Of The Electoral College

  1. Alaska and Hawaii also demonstrated that they were ready and capable of functioning as states, which is required since they have to be voted in. Or least you have to be able to make that case for your state/territory if you are hoping to get voted in.

Puerto Rico has failed at even being a territory. But the lefty view of statehood now is that if you have failed as a terrority, we will fix all that by making you a state.....womp...womp..

  3. Also, what are yuze guys referring to when you say DR? I am drawing a blank. All I can think of is Dominican Republic.

They are not even American territory and some people are talking about making them a state? Or are you referring to something else. Maybe I am having a brain cramp.

That’s what I thought Scat was talking about. Honestly I haven’t heard anything about it, only Puerto Rico and DC.

Edit, wasn’t even thinking, Dominican Republic is it’s own country. Doh!

  5. Indeed.

Got enough problems without taking them on. They share a border with Haiti. I wonder if any illegals would cross that border if the DR became American.

Puerto Rico should remain a commonwealth of the US and not a US state. They have shown thru their corrupt officials that they do not deserve to become a US state. All they would do is suck American tax dollars, waste it and add millions of extreme liberals to our voting rolls. That is why the Democrats want them. No thanks.

The Seventeenth Amendment (Amendment XVII) to the United States Constitution established the popular election of United States senators in each state. The amendment supersedes Article I, §3, Clauses 1 and 2 of the Constitution, under which senators were elected by state legislatures

  8. I know that. And just what does this fact have to do with gaussian's post? And while you're at it, please elaborate on "my high level of ignorance".

At first I was going to jokingly post “Manifest Destiny, Baby!”. But understanding the Communist tendency of Democrats I’ll opt for the “Domino Theory, Man!” o_O

  10. Yes. Dominican Republic, I think... which is why the "?" Was trying to recall from memory without looking up. If it's not DR, it's some other place down there.
