  1. Here's a list of the liquidity providers for one popular currency pair (EUR.USD) as listed on IB's website. Barclays, Bank of America, Citibank, Goldman Sachs, etc. Timberhill is not listed but IB is. I believe this is because another IB client might be on the other side of the trade.

IDEAL, BARC2FX, BARCFX, BOAFX, CITIFX, CSFX, GSFX, HSBCFX, IBFX, IDEALFX, JPMCFX, MSFX, NATIXISFX, NOM2FX, NOMFX, OTC, RBCFX, RBSFX, UBSFX

Quote from IB in 2006 regarding Timber Hill as a liquidity provider.

    see: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1198372&highlight=forex+new#post1198372

So maybe Timber Hill is no longer a liquidity provider or no longer takes the other side of a trade.

Below is an IB statement (current) stating that IB does not take the other side of forex trades. But the statement only covers Interactive Brokers, LLC

A significant difference from many other FX platforms is that Interactive Brokers LLC ("IB") acts as agent and does not take a position on the other side of the trade. Our only priority is to execute the order at the best possible price.

  4. Navigation from IB's main page:

Trading > Product Listings > Forex > IDEAL PRO

Then click on the link next to the currency pair you are interested in. The contract information will be displayed including the "Exchange" which lists the market makers. Click on an individual market maker for the full name and other info.

It looks like there may be three IB-related entities currently listed as Liquidity Providers:

    IB Currency Dealing (IBFX)

    IB Forex (IDEAL)

    IDEAL Currency Dealing (IDEALFX)

Maybe Timber Hill trades via one of these entities and no longer under the liquidity provider name TMBR.

Or perhaps Timber Hill no longer participates at all within the IB Forex platform.
