I received an email from IB pertaining to a EU Commodities Info Update. Can I assume that I don't need to follow up on this, since I do not trade any of the ICE markets? STARTING ON JANUARY 3, 2018 WE CANNOT ACCEPT AND EXECUTE ORDERS FOR YOUR ACCOUNT UNLESS YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE FORMS AND PROVIDED THE REQUIRED INFORMATION. IF YOU HAVE EXISTING POSITIONS AS OF THAT DATE AND YOU HAVE NOT PROVIDED THE REQUIRED INFORMATION THIS MEANS THAT YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO CLOSE THOSE POSITIONS ON JANUARY 3 (OR AFTER) UNTIL YOU PROVIDE THE REQUIRED INFORMATION, EXPOSING YOU TO MARKET RISK.
You might have permissions for certain EU markets even if not trading them. Anyway, this is what IB support is for or are you going to take the risk by trusting a random answer from ET?
This has to do with MiFIR and MiFID2. d08 suggests going to support (which is not a bad idea) but the best place to start and where you'll often find detailed explanations is on our website: You can read if you are subject to the rules here: https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/?f=29507 https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/software/am/am/manageaccount/emirandleiinformation.htm
