IB backfill is terrible!

Discussion in 'Interactive Brokers' started by surfer25, Oct 14, 2008.

  1. Yah, it seems okay for me. My MC aborted but I started it immediately and the 1 bar of backfill went real fast. All is well here. In the morning getting 2 or 3 days of backfill took a while but I had breakfast at that time so I don't care.

Did the hardware change take place?

As i type this post and for the last 1.5 hours i have been getting price quotes without volume.
Same problem happening for the last 4 trading days.

  3. Acqua,

This is probably an entirely different problem. Backfill seems to be largely fixed but your issue is about data from a different server (live data right?) so its probably unrelated.

    Kiwi,

I thought so, and i insisted the two problems were not related when describing my issue to IB.
IB's customer service assured me that the problem would be solved with an updated version of TWS and/or the new hardware platform.

I know of people having similar issues running different versions of TWS so i'm not holding high hopes for the updated version of TWS. Even more so when they cannot tell an estimated time for release.

The hardware platform was supposed to be intalled yesterday, and it probably was, if you and other people have the backfill problem largely solved; however, contrary to IB's customer support statement, my problem is still there, hence the reason of my posting here.

  5. PM one of the ib guys who responded to this thread and ask if its the same issue. It may take them time to respond if they have to get someone to figure it out --- I think that ib's systems are very complex so figuring out what causes what is probably extremely difficult.

Forum police are always a curious bunch. A poster going out of his/her way to inaccurately bad mouth IB in various threads, including post(s) that were deleted by a moderator, gets labeled a "dunce." Tragic.

Would be interesting to perform a comparative analysis of post count vs forum ego. You think I spend $120-$180/month on DTN.IQ to complement IB data for sheer joy? Many full-time traders, specifically non-scalper/non-tick traders such as myself, do better than fine clearing with IB and use their RT feed to aid execution for various advantageous reasons. Your "$10k piker...IB bait etc" derogatory remarks from out of no where are quite humorous. Provides some insight into your character.

Exactly how do you come to the conclusion that I don't know the names of quality feeds? I specifically asked you what "enterprise" feed do you use. Standard inquisitive question yet your response is riddled with arrogant assumption about my market strategy/methodology? Hmm, ok. We have spent plenty of time and $ vetting various high end feeds, including our top choice DTN.Nxcore which was implementd for nearly 8-months last year to power a moderately sized equity n.net. Superior low bandwidth compared to CQG and my partners TT X-T via Dorman. Found CQG excellent for high frequency scalping, superior to the much pricier TT during high traffic. Have sailed the open waters so please save your condescending attitude.

Have you done comparative analysis between IB RT and CQG in high trafffic? Again, a straight-forward inquiry.

  7. blah blah blah

Any of your girlfriends ever call you high maintenance? That rant proves that you're a bit of a girly-man.

Next time you decide to post, please refrain from calling people you don't know 'dunce' and other derogatory names. You may get some help with your trading and your data questions from some of the more experienced members here.

There have been a rash of anti-IB data threads here in the past few weeks. Once again, it's absurd. If you're using IB for your intra-day data, especially if your strat involves high-frequency trades (and god forbid you're trying to use it for any automated trading), you deserve to lose your piker 10K account.

With regard to the trollish search for my old posts... that speaks for itself. I'll be here long after you've blown out and gone home.

    bump.

Backfill is still not fixed here in U.S. Please try faster servers, better servers, better webhosts, better java programmer, better I don't know what, but please fix the damn backfill and how about fixing your regular charts while you at it?

Since IB hasn't been able to fix their TWS charts (data fill, time to load, nonload, etc.) in several years, maybe it's time you (IB) bought a reputable charting company and gave up.

Is Peterfly aware that these issues still exist?
