Yes, very sad. Illegally used and acquired weapons. If only there were a law that could get rid of illegal firearms. I'd sign it.
You might want to hold off on that. If a dem manages to get elected president, your entire armory will become illegal, one way or another. I know, you think the police will not enforce confiscation. Tell that to people in New Orleans who had their firearms confiscated by police, leaving them defenseless against thugs after Katrina.
Illegal weapons aren't weapons that are suddenly illegal because of a simply pen signing. Illegal weapons are stolen, traded to criminals, etc. No one will be able to make firearms illegal in the manner in which you suggest. No policeman will enforce it, no military tolerate it.
This is an NRA propaganda film. Without proper context from the police as to what was going on and why they were doing what they were doing, I cannot agree with you or support your point of view. Both sides push propaganda when it comes to guns and gun control. Rarely do they ever show an accurate depiction. I'm not saying there isn't truth to it, just that I cannot speak to the truth and I am suspect of the film's out of context presentations to push a narrative. Even if I ultimately support the narrative. Actually, especially since I support it.
That's absolutely true... But, I always can't help to remember something I read in "The Machinery of Freedom" by David Friedman: "It took about 150 years, starting with a Bill of Rights that reserved to the states and the people all powers not explicitly delegated to the federal government, to produce a Supreme Court willing to rule that growing corn to feed to your own hogs is interstate commerce and can therefore be regulated by Congress." By the same token, another thing that has already been extensively discussed here is the fact the "Shall not be infriged" couldn't be clearer, yet in many states it is almost impossible to carry a gun legally and in the majority where you can do it, you have to have a permit, even if it is a "shall issue" state, and that is in itself a direct contradiction to the 2nd Amendment. Not to mention the fact that in all states there are certain firearms you simply cannot get anymore. What I mean by this, is that the perception of the people about these things change over time... We live in a world where almost nobody believes we can live without a central bank, or some regulation of commerce or even "some gun laws"... Every republican that "dreams of this" knows that they'll never get it, unless he compromises in a certain way to some idiocy from the democratic party, which is a huge force in the country. Because these are things that most where born to and to consider these possibilities is simply "crazy", despite the fact that the country was built upon them. So, even though it is not an easy thing to do, I can see this happening at some point(the ATF would drool over it, for example) and the military could have to get to a point where they would have to go against the president and most of congress in order to not do this(since based on the examples I mentioned, what is written in the constitution can be interpreted in any way, including the exact opposite of it and it may be tried). Whether it would work or not, I don't know, but it would have a high probability of war(which is what the founders considered to be a real possibility, since they put the 2nd Amendment in the Bill of Rights).

You can sleep well, when Dem President takes office in 2021 (unless Dems nominate lunatic like AOC for example), all that will happen is increased gun sales. That is it, no one will come after your legally purchased weapon.
