Anyone here trading the FTSE MIB options with IB, or anyone else?

Tried to do a trade yesterday on the 15,500 Jul01 Call, and my account would not let me - trying to sort with IB now.

Interested in doing a few options trades on this fast moving market, as I done them in the past.

No but I've thought about it. Apparently Options are THE instrument for trading in the UK markets. Eager to learn.

What do you mean by learn, as that will mean different things to different people?

FTSE MIB is ideal candidate in my opinion, but that is just me, others will look at it and say way too risky!

Btw, the FTSE MIB is the Italian 40 index - the eyeties are a very volatile bunch:)

Could be an obvious oversight - with FTSE one might think it is uk!

Irrelevant, what matters here is anyone trading the MIB 40 index options, with any real options broker - not spread bet or binary:rolleyes:

  6. I look at those, yes, but I am not sure I can help you with your issue, as it appears to have something to do with IB.

Got sorted last nite - i downgrded some of my permissions in account management, and for some reason it has locked out my ability to upgrade the MIB options - IB have a silly "internal procedure" for downgrades that takes a few day:rolleyes:

Should be sorted today or tomorrow, but has already cost me 1 winning trade - but my error, should have made sure everything in order before brexit result.

Fail to plan..Plan will fail..how true.

I really wonder at times what these "professionals" that IB keep on about - really do!

Do you trade them, and if so is it based on pure direction bias, or option analysis?

  8. I know how you feel, having missed a beauty of a trade in the past couple of days...

I look at equity options, yes, including FTSE MIB, although it's not my main focus. Furthermore, this particular index is a bit peripheral for me, excuse the pun. Still, I have dabbled. My way of looking at it is directional, with vol potentially offering occasional edge.

Yes, very large swings, ideal for options.

Back after 2007 crash, I traded MIB options for a bit, made some Euros - one long call trade I left expire worthless, well, it looked worthless - next day I noticed over 1K euro in my account - expiry was on open of following day I think, will doulbe check again once I start trading them.

This time I think I will go for selling puts/calls with protection - it's ok once you buy protection - selling naked puts/calls is not for those with limited capital, at the best of times!

Anyway, let's see what happens - nothing ventured, nothing gained!
