I think it's important to state that going back to WORK is much different than going to the OFFICE, or going back to COMMUTING.

Commuting is hell. HELL! Stuffed onto trains, idling in traffic... it's horrible. I hate it so much. SO MUCH!! Working from my home office I get more exercise, eat better, have a better work-life balance, and am more productive.

Life is too short to spend time commuting.

If there's a real need; say, if I'm meeting with a client, or have a team meeting, then fine; I'll ride in. I do think there's value in face time... but not every day.

  3. You're not the only one! It already even has a named, “The great resignation” is what economists are dubbing it.

What's happening: Workers have had more than a year to reconsider work-life balance or career paths, and as the world opens back up, many of them will give their two weeks' noticeand make those changes they’ve been dreaming about.

“The great resignation” is what economists are dubbing it.

    • Surveys show anywhere from 25% to upwards of 40% of workers are thinking about quitting their jobs.
A number of colliding trends are driving the resignation boom, experts say.

    • University of Michigan economist Betsey Stevenson tells Axios, "People have had a little more space to ask themselves, 'Is this really what I want to be doing?'" So some are deciding they want to work fewer hours or with more flexibility to create more time for family or hobbies.
    • Others are considering switching careers entirely.
      • A cruise ship staffer trained and pivoted to work in a data center because the pandemic showed her the volatility of her industry.
      • An insurance broker and her restaurant manager husband both left their jobs to start a landscaping company because they realized during the pandemic that they wanted to spend more time outside.
    • Some are quitting because their bosses won't let them work from home post-pandemic. Others are leaving because they miss their offices, but their companies are now hybrid or all-remote.

  4. It depends on the Industry.

Hospitality. In the cruise, gambling and the "isolated resort" industries all use the H2B Visa. This allows these corp owned large hotel, cruise or restaurant and of course casino properties to bring over Filipino workers in huge numbers and pay them $2.00 per hour plus tips. The entire island chain of Hawaii is designated as a Remote or Isolated Resort status for H2B Visa. So is the entire city of Las Vegas. Every cruise ship that sales out of US ports is fully staffed with Filipino waiters, busboys, maids, maintenance, cleaning crews etc..

*As US citizens balk at hospitality work in general, Congress will expand H2B Visa program to include all fast food, all fast casual, all big chain restaurants and hotels ect..

Retail. This probably could be expanded into what little retail America still has. Philippines has 100 million young, English speaking workers ready to work here for ultra low wages at any given minute,

Construction. There is already Mexican construction labor visas on offer via TN Visa... which is a NAFT Act Visa. Plus, the construction industry is known for paying under the table to illegal Mexican seasonal workers and such.

In healthcare, Filipinas staff most all positions in the massive nursing home industry and probably much of the testing, routine lab and support medical industries. Most of the doctors come from India or Asia.

In education, there are so many online fake schools that I'm not even sure where these teachers come from. In actual traditional campus based colleges there are a lot of Indian and Chinese lecturers and professors.

Manufacturing. We don't have much manufacturing any longer so this is moot. But robotics is sure to take this entire industry in the coming years.

Therefor, US citizens have VERY LITTLE bargaining power even though no one wants to go back into these fields.

Where are all these young workers going. Well, many are becoming daytraders under the moniker Reddit Effect momo and fomo investing... unfortunately. Many others have become digital workers making Youtube vlogs, Twitch streaming, TikTok dance videos, Instagram models, Chaturbate performers and OnlyFans models...lol

Some of the valid new jobs have really taken hold well in the pandemic, such as Uber drivers, Door Dash type food delivery, Air bnb hosting businesses, Selling Chinese junk on Amazon or Ebay, teaching English to the many new immigrants in USA, trending up corny fashion fads at pop-up stores, selling T Shirts with the latest cool print, being sugar babies or just copping a PTSD diagnosis and collecting disability income...Ahhhh, the great young life of American youth

  5. Hey man I have PTSD, I'm on psych meds and refuse to be a victim and have others take care of me.

Aside from trading, I love math. The crazy abstract kind. I know I wasn't born rich, or with a wealthy family but I ain't letting that or my diagnosis take me down.

Well I wouldn't be too keen on going back to work, online or commuting if I am in the workforce either when I have to deal with the egocentric and clueless boss, the conniving, gossiping and backstabbing co-workers that take credit for your work every chance they get and fight for the same weeks for vacation so you never get to take any days off during the time you want, the long working hours with tiny overtime pay when now I never have to deal with any of the a$$holes and b1tches in the office, take all the vacation I want during the time that I want, make all the money I want in the comfort of my home. Why would I give up all the freedom now that I have tasted it to go back to be chained to slavery? LOL

No they can just take the job and shove it! Hope they have the best of luck hiring their next naive victim who still believes in the pride of earning money by working for others who pay you peanuts but expect you to put in 10X the efforts.

You are meant to work excessive unpaid hours, because you are indebted and ass kissing thankful for them giving you a job! :) :)

  8. I started working from home long before it became fashionable. I used to dress up in a suit and commute through the traffic every day.

Now I don't dress up for work at all. (In fact, I can't dress up... I think I lost my tie.) :)

  9. You’re fortunate that your Bozo “the clown” suit doesn’t require a tie.
