Advocates for the homeless mentally ill are happy with the idea that their clients will actually get some treatment instead of being put in jails. I don't like the idea of jailing crazy people but that is largely what happens to them. Some jails are better than others when it comes to accomodations. Many police officers are sadistic towards inmates. The mentally ill very often don't get their meds because the jailers don't want to be bothered. I had an acquaintance that wasn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier by a long shot. He told me stories about being arrested for minor stuff and once he was denied his meds. He fell off a top bunk because without his meds he passes out. He injured his head and we got a lawsuit cranked up against the sadistic little shitheads with the power of the uniform that denied him his meds.
