http://www.nature.com/ngeo/journal/vaop/ncurrent/full/ngeo2689.html Melting at the base of the Greenland ice sheet explained by Iceland hotspot history Ice-penetrating radar1, 2, 3 and ice core drilling4 have shown that large parts of the north-central Greenland ice sheet are melting from below. It has been argued that basal ice melt is due to the anomalously high geothermal flux1, 4 that has also influenced the development of the longest ice stream in Greenland1. Here we estimate the geothermal flux beneath the Greenland ice sheet and identify a 1,200-km-long and 400-km-wide geothermal anomaly beneath the thick ice cover. We suggest that this anomaly explains the observed melting of the ice sheet’s base, which drives the vigorous subglacial hydrology3 and controls the position of the head of the enigmatic 750-km-long northeastern Greenland ice stream5. Our combined analysis of independent seismic, gravity and tectonic data6, 7, 8, 9 implies that the geothermal anomaly, which crosses Greenland from west to east, was formed by Greenland’s passage over the Iceland mantle plume between roughly 80 and 35 million years ago. We conclude that the complexity of the present-day subglacial hydrology and dynamic features of the north-central Greenland ice sheet originated in tectonic events that pre-date the onset of glaciation in Greenland by many tens of millions of years.
First you have to validate a model, before it can be invalidated. All models start out invalid and must be validated. The current models have yet to be validated. They are in excellent agreement with the past 100 years however!, because they are all fit to past data.
This is called, "Let's figure out how to conjure via math tricks a chart of something that goes down". lol Where is this from? Which Koch bros funded denier website? Funny stuff.
Oh wow, that sounds so smart!! The peanut gallery of denier idiots approves!! The models from twenty years ago are doing fine thanks. The greenhouse effect is well demonstrated and quantified. Temps are exactly within predicted ranges. It's impressive how well they have done. Although admittedly they did not consider ENSO enough. But they were never designed to measure short term variations. They are certainly validated as long term predictions and are getting better every year. You see....CO2 is the earth's most important greenhouse gas. It's levels largely control the earth's temperature. We have raised it's level by 40% and continue to raise it's levels. Mankind has never lived with levels this high.
Well you see, it's funny but, something else is happening in the Greenland area. The temps are rapidly increasing. You are aware that ice melts at higher temps right? Oh wait, I forgot, you are a conservative. Or a Libtardarian, same thing.
I hope that Futurecurrents enjoys the snow in Long Island this weekend. Even though he probably views the freezing precip as evidence of global warming.
If you believe the Greenland glaciers are melting, please quantify how much is caused by AGW, geothermal activity and TSI.
