Esignal vs IQFeed for Quotetracker

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by Triple X, Aug 13, 2007.

  1. Has anybody switched over to Esignal feed for Quotetracker (or any other datafeed), and if so what is your feedback? I really like Quotetracker, but I am sick of IQfeed slowing down every time the market starts moving quickly. I trade the ES. Also, if anyone uses regular Esignal for the ES, what is your experience with it in fast markets. I'm looking for something reliable. Thanks.

  2. I use IQfeed and watch the 5 Index futures but mostly ES... It keeps up okay on mine...

At one time i was having trouble and then realized it was my RTD spreadsheet feed slowing everything down...

Triple... what are you charting IQFeed in...what package... ?

  3. I'm using Quotetracker. It works great until the market starts moving fast. Then, it just goes on hold until the market slows down, and it 'bursts' the last 10 seconds all at once.

  4. Ok.. i am not familar with QT... but did purchase NT (NeoTicker) for that EXACT reason... NT is multi threaded... Is QT - multithreaded software or single threaded...

Do you have other software open and monitor your CPU... to see if it tops out on big up spikes or if QT just freezes...

NT is high end for performance but NOT an easy software to use if you are not geek oriented... no phone suport and email support is latent and not detailed...

But, i know how you feel... i used to get so mad when my futures would freeze i would spit blood...

    :(

  6. Good to know... thanks for taking the time to post the link...

I hope the original poster will let us know what else he is using on his system at the same time that might be causing the 'freezing' up... "Going on Hold"

  7. Edgehunter, I am also running Ninjatrader, which doesn't seem to be using much in the way of system resources. What I find so fascinating about this is I used to trade stocks, and I can remember having 50 symbols updating on my quoteboard, and having stocks like EBAY or AAPL trade 200 million shares in one day without a hiccup (using Cybertrader feed). Now I have only the ES and a couple of indices listed, and that causes it to stop.

  8. Look up your CPU usage when you get the freezing and see if it is topping out at 100%... and what program is causing it...

If it is not topping out at 100% then QT is somehow 'Freezing up' and you might consider reinstalling it... maybe they have a new upgrade / update version...

not really sure... since i can't see what's going on... but i have been where you are and its like having the blood drain out of you...

    especially on high volatility days...

I get the exact same lagging from Esignal. I do have a bunch of stocks up on the screen too, so maybe your results would be better.
