By Peter Grier, Staff writer / March 19, 2013 Should the minimum wage be $22 an hour? Thatâs what Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D) of Massachusetts suggested at a recent hearing of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. Hereâs her logic: If you took the minimum wage from 1960 and indexed it for workersâ gains in productivity, it would be $22 an hour today. And why shouldnât employees reap the benefits of their own improved labor practices?, she asked at the hearing, rhetorically. Today, the actual minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. âWhat happened to the other $14.75? It sure didnât go to the worker,â Senator Warren said. http://news.yahoo.com/22-minimum-wage-could-pass-congress-145204898.html
She's focused on the wrong thing. They used to say "Money doesn't grow on trees." But today, a trillion of new money can be made with a few keystrokes. Which means someone is always speeding up the dial on the treadmill so it is harder and harder for them to even stay still, let alone try and get ahead. She should be focused on the value of the money they are holding, not just how much of it they have.
In the 1960s there also wasn't competition from the 3rd world. $22/hr minimum would give us BIG inflation as well as MASSIVE unemployment. Ever wonder why the words "stupid" and "cunt" just seem to roll off the tongue together?
Any day you can blast an ignorant cunt like Elizabeth Warren is a good day for free men and women everywhere.
