dw, I incorporated your spreadsheet in the 5y Histories but I am having trouble with decimals...can you help? see attached.
The only problem with it is the way you used the value of one pip. I didnt' explain that, but it is just the decmal place of each pip movement. Ex: for usd/jpy if price moves from 108.14 to 108.15 that = 1 pip movement which = 108.15-108.14 = 0.01 for eur/usd if price moves from 1.2555 to 1.2556 that = 1 pip movement wich = 1.2556 - 1.2555 = 0.0001 also I made a mistake on my first spread sheet in calculating the number of targets. Here it is all fixed, but you might want to take out the part caclulating the value of one pip, as it is not needed. David
dw, Wouldn't the "Buy" (in units) formula need to read the cell, that the user fills in, for the decimal calculation? instead of 0.01? same for the "Sell" (in units) Michael B.
Assuming I understood the corrections...I found the dwstart to also be a "volatility guage" to be used to adjust the total # of pips to use in a "grid balance" according to the pairs volatility. Michael B. Like this: see attached (notice the total # of trades, I used 30).
Keeping with the spirit of this Journal, here is where to get Oanda 5Y histories... Good trading to you Folks.. (I mean that) http://www.oanda.com/convert/fxhistory
