The US was well on it's way to being an economic powerhouse BEFORE there were any income taxes. The economy has continued to grow despite taxes, NOT because of them. The internet already existed before the tech bubble. That statement is incorrect.
his statement is not 100% off... because of the .com bubble many companies [like JDSU] overestimated the demand for broadband in the US and established huge fiber optic networks. This lead to an excessive infraestructure in the US following the tech bubble. Eventhough internet existed since the 70's... chances are much of the info that you send and receive goes throught infraestructure that was developed thanks to the .com bubble.
Well if you want to get technical, the statement is still false because people buying tech stocks (outside of IPOs) were not paying for the internet, they were simply buying an overvalued asset.
