IB has no historical data, so if you are using IB as your data source, the only data that you can chart is the data you collect while connected to IB and Sierra Charts during the time the market is open.

Another option is to subscribe to a data provider such as Mytrack which has some historical data included.

    Definitely British...:D ...I'm going with option 2.

P.S. Thanks for taking the time to detail how you trade.

No need, but I'm touched. Unlike folks who essentially started posting last month and are already on their second alias, I've been around for years, same moniker, no surprises. Everyone on this board knows me so no need for fancy introductions.
Outside of trying to sound so clever and glib (is that an English thing?), I'm not sure why you say that. In the same way that many people appreciate you bringing a trading method to the boards, I appreciate what Jack brings. As a matter of respect I let him know that, thank him for answering my questions, and taking the time to post. Like you, he's not obligated to say another word. And if that makes me a "groupie", so be it.
Quite a number of people at ET appreciate Jack's posts, and his willingness to answer many questions. Is his writing style inaccessible to some? Could the concepts be expressed in a different way? I suppose so. Could Faulkner or T.S. Eliot be expressed clearer, in a different way? I suppose so, but that's the way they express themselves. And while I'm not comparing Jack's writing skills with those masters, what it comes down to is that's the way Jack expresses himself. Take it or leave it. I don't begrudge him as it's obvious he's trying very hard to communicate important ideas about how to approach the market, culled from his many years of experience. Do some people get frustrated and shine him on because his writing style is difficult to easily grasp? Sure. If you don't think it's of any value, or it's too much work for you to try and understand him, then put him on ignore. Simple as that. No need to be a total sod about it and whine all the time. No need for you to get off-topic in this thread and complain, once again, about Jack.
Now isn't that special. I've been told some people start a thread and then somehow think they own it, that it's theirs. Contrary to that notion, here's how it really works around here (take it from a member of the Establishment). All threads on ET belong to all members, and the main distinguishing characteristic of the person who started the thread is that they get the first post. After that, everyone is welcome to post, even parolees. G'day mate.

  6. Magna - you're such a pompous ass honestly! Take that rod out from your behind :p

As for Jack - he's a useless arsewipe with nothing to say. All six of you who follow him ARE groupies. I guarantee that neither Guru nor Groupie makes any money. That's fine if you all bugger off onto some groupie thread. Live and let live I say. But the problem is you congregate together and destroy other promising threads with bullshit talk that bears no resemblance to the topic - and becomes a thread for Guru & Groupie. Then the Groupies get nasty when a normal person tells the Guru to fuck off (as all normal people wish).

Anyone, I mean ANYONE who has suffered through a thread with Jack talking about 10 indicators and VDU analysis on a 1 minute chart will know that I'm talking about. He talks the most utter nonsense that I've ever seen in my life. And his groupies are brain-dead asswipes. There ain't no fucking way any of you groupies are making any money from that idiot. Dreamers the lot of you.

And the fact that I've been around a short time only enhances my credibility. Anyone who's been reading the 99.999% drivvel on this web site will appreciate that!

As your pompous ass indicates; you're part of the Establishment (and you like it that way). Which of course makes you part of the PROBLEM. There ain't no fucking way any of you people are adding value to anyone. Not to anyone who cares about making money that is.

  7. When you got your passport - did you get your fucking brainwashed at the same time? Let me guess how many countries you've lived in? ..errrmm ONE. Sorry I forgot that you originate from Europe. So you've either come from some 3rd world communist country or some large socialist one where things are fucked up economically.

But what I do know is that your comment makes you a brain-dead groupie boy who's quite ignorant about world matters. Hmmm, let's see: I've lived in five countries including seven years in the U.S. Would I put my money on the U.S. being the "greatest". Fuck off, no way!

Gimme Switzerland. The wealthiest country (per head) on the planet. Not a member of the EU so no socialism. Vibrant democracy & capitalism, wages & salaraies that match the U.S. with taxes that are least 50% lower. Zero capital gains tax for stock and futures traders. Financial privacy laws that are enshrined in the constitutiuon i.e. it's not the Government's fucking business to know what a Swiss person does with their money. But what about the other stuff? Try no crime and a near zero murder rate. Six year olds walking to School alone in total safety. Try one of the best health care and educational systems in the world. Try infastructure: trains, buses, roads etc., that are the envy of the world. Try unbelievable lake and mountain scenery. Try nearly everyone speaks English. Try it's smack in the heart of Europe i.e. anywhere you'd want to go for vacation or cultural activity.

Is there any wonder why the likes of Tina Turner manage her $200 million estate from Lake Zurich. Or why the likes of Phil Collins, David Bowie, Shania Twain, Michael Schumacher and numerous other celebrities all have mansions overlooking the mountains of Lake Geneva? Oh, but there's just one thing about the Swiss. They don't put a fucking flag on their doorstep to be patriotic, nor do they proclaim that they live "in the greatest country in the world". I guess some people don't need to.

  8. Do you have to have a lot of money to move to Switzerland? Do
they let anyone move to their country? Sounds too good to be
true. And I bet they don't have a lot of terrorists about to blow
up the place... By the way, Shania Twain is one hot lady... :D

  9. She and her rock star producer Mutt Lange (he behind Bryan Adams, Def Leppard & AC/DC among others) live above a little village on Lake Geneva called Montreux. The annual 'Montreux Jazz Festival' sound familiar? Worth a visit just to bump into the hot little Minx!

How to get a Swiss resident permit?
    1. Be rich. You can go and get a special non-work permit to stay as long as you like. Basically you just manage your estate, your investments (trading futures) etc., and promise not to take a local job. There's a small wealth tax which you can "negotiate" with the authorities. The Swiss take a very pragmatic view on millionaires. They know that such people can live anywhere so they make it attractive for them to come to Switzerland and spend their money, plus chip in a little to the tax pot.
    2. Get a job with either a large Swiss company, or the Swiss office of an American one. The company will sponsor you for the work permit which is renewable every year, and after five years becomes permenent. Citizenship takes longer.
    3. Marry a Swiss girl

    PROBLEM:
If you are American, then you belong to a fascist dictatorship without even knowing it. Your Government will tax your arse on the basis of just being American. It doesn't matter if you moved abroad permanently, pay your local taxes, and never go back to the U.S. The U.S. will STILL want your taxes every year. Fucking fascism or what? All other Nationals e.g. Brits, Candians, etc. can leave their home country and no owe further tax i.e. they are only taxed quite logically where they LIVE! The US is the only major country who taxes it's people based on their citizenship not their residency. OK, they'll allow you to earn some income tax-free, up to limit. But those zero taxes on futures trading? The Swiss won't care, but your "greatest country in the world" will want you to ship them back the tax every year!

The way around it? Marry a Swiss girl and move there. Open up the account with IB in her name only. She owes your govt nothing! Either that or traitor of traitoress ideas: get a different citizenship and renounce your U.S. one :)

  10. That's the beauty of the place - it's very small and unnoticed (8 million population) and it minds it's own business. Nobody worries about Al Queda attacking Switzerland. I know many American expats with jobs there (usually 2-3 year assignments) that are staying as long as they possibly can. They sure as hell ain't rushing to go back and live in the U.S. right now.
