Mostly the browns are a joke that everyone can laugh at, half a dozen QB's in 10 years, constantly horrendous draft picks, dedicated fans year after year when their outcome is always predictable, always bad. They really ought to start simply conceding their first round draft pick since it just goes to waste year after year under their watch.

For the first time i actually feel kind of bad(though not too bad) for browns fans, they sold off last years 3rd overall pick for a 2014 pick which will inevitably be lower, all so that they can rebuild for the future with yet another failed QB pick who is already almost 30. By the time the Browns rebuild Weeden will be retired, they just called it quits 2 games into the season.

I couldnt think of a more comical way to run a franchise if i tried, this really is a new low for the browns, i cant even imagine what it must be like cheering for that team. Richardson should be thanking the lord he is getting out of there, no chance he would have won a superbowl in cleveland. :D

Trent Richardson traded to Colts from Browns for pick

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay teased fans Wednesday on Twitter, promising a shocking trade. He delivered.

» Why did Browns do this deal?
The Colts acquired running back Trent Richardson from the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday in exchange for their 2014 first-round draft pick. Just one year after the Browns drafted Richardson No. 3 overall, the team's new regime has given up on him. The Browns are loading up on 2014 draft picks.

How did Richardson react to the news?

"He was shocked, upset," NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a person close to Richardson. "He loved Cleveland. But slowly, he's understanding the benefits in Indy."

It's a stunning move: Richardson was considered the centerpiece of the Browns' offense. But new coach Rob Chudzinski, new general manager Michael Lombardi and new CEO Joe Banner clearly decided he no longer fit their plans.

The Colts' offense gets a much-needed boost after losing running back Vick Ballard and tight end Dwayne Allen for the season. General manager Ryan Grigson has shown a penchant for making trades and swinging for the fences since he hit town, with positive results. The Colts' backfield, which looked so questionable, now looks like a strength with Ahmad Bradshaw backing up Richardson.

Lombardi will take a lot of heat for this move. The Colts were a playoff team last season, so the draft pick might not be particularly high in the first round. And yet the Browns still didn't want to keep Richardson. Rapoport reported that the Browns will bring in Willis McGahee on Thursday and plan to sign him if he passes a physical. Bobby Rainey -- who doesn't have a regular-season carry in his NFL career -- looks like the team's possible starter.

Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden summed up how a lot of Cleveland fans probably are feeling.

"Shocked, man," Weeden told NFL Media's Jeff Darlington in a text message Wednesday. "That's all I can say."

  2. Pathetic.

They finally get Gordon back to open up some running room for TRich and now this. The defense was playing very well. Why not give it a few games to see what the full offense looked like?

Thankfully for Cleveland, the Jets and Raiders are still in the league so they won't be known as the worst franchise.

  3. I'm going to go against the grain here and say I like this move. Drafting Richardson in the first round was a major blunder. One, you generally should not blow a first round pick, particularly a high first rounder, on a RB. Two, a talent poor team like the Browns had better uses of the number three overall pick.

Now it looks bad because they are getting a pick that will probably be worse than the one they used on Richardson. So what. Once you get beyond the first few picks, things tend to even out in the draft. I look on it as cutting a loss on a bad trade. The first loss is the best loss. They would never have been able to deal Richardson for a first round pick if they waited until the season was over. They caught the Colts in dire need of a back.

I know Browns fans are upset, but the probabilities say this was a good move.

Only if you are comfortable rebuilding for the 98763 time in the last decade.

How much you wanna bet the browns squander their two picks on yet another dud QB, and someone else who doesnt even crack the praactice squad?

I:m a steelers fan, my buddy is a ravens fan, the best part about the draft every year is not our own teams picks, the best part is watching the browns do something stupid, year after year after year. :D
