The City Council unanimously approved the settlement Friday. Floyd's family filed a federal lawsuit in July against the city and the four officers involved in the arrest that led to his death. The lawsuit took issue with neck restraints and police policies and training, among other things. It sought compensatory and special damages in an amount to be determined by a jury. The City Council added the matter to its agenda for closed session Friday morning. Floyd's family filed a federal lawsuit in July against the city and the four officers involved in the arrest that led to his death. The lawsuit alleged the officers violated Floyd's rights when they restrained him and it took issue with neck restraints and police policies and training, among other things. It sought compensatory and special damages in an amount to be determined by a jury. Benjamin Crump and other attorneys representing Floyd's family members are scheduled to hold a news conference Friday afternoon. Asked whether he would make an announcement about a settlement, Crump said, "all things are possible." "The city needs to exhibit responsible leadership in the face of the horrific tragedy that really was a watershed moment for America," Crump said in an interview Friday.
extortion This settlement announced just before the trial is an attempt to buy peace from BLM who are ready to burn down the city If Nancy was able to find any national guards she should send them to Minnesota
Minnesota needs a conviction is this case to save their city from being burned down from the racist BLM There are 6 jurors seated who will be aware of this record settlement The message the state wants to send them is that we did something wrong Gots to get that guilty verdict
Imagine the systemic changes we would achieve if those settlements were paid out from police pensions or retirement accounts? Defund the police detractors would have no such talk of course and would rather we collectively foot the bill instead
"If republicans would stop protecting police brutality against minorities this would end". Republicans do not protect police brutality. This is a lie.
