I began the process of opening an IB account today. It's more involved than other account's I opened in the past with other brokers. I plan to trade futures, perhaps ES, NQ, or YM, and also maybe bond futures. Also maybe play with stock here and there and would like to try FOREX once I have the futures thing down better. IB asked me what market data feed I want. Some I obviously don't need right now, as I'm planning on staying in US stock (unless someone can convince me to try another country's market). So here is the list of market data I can order form IB. What will I really need? I am not able to stay at my computer all day. Trading is a part time thing for me -- learn a bit, make a trade, learn a bit, make a trade. Edited to add: I'll most also look into esignal. Thanks. --Mom ---------------------------------------------------- Market data subscriptions As a service to our customers, we provide real-time streaming market data for free or at the price we are charged by an exchange. Forex data is free. I subscribed to "US Securities and Commodities Bundle Non-professional - Level I Includes all Stock, Options, Futures and Bond markets " It's $10/month unless you generate more than $30 in commissions/month, then it's free. Normally not a problem. I have no other subscriptions and it meets all my stock/options/futures trading needs.
Sounds like you'll be fine just signing up for the free data feeds (subject to the monthly $30 commission minimum). If you try adding a symbol to TWS and don't have the required subscription, you'll get an immediate message. You can then add the required subscription and it will go into effect almost immediately.
I also did just the "US Securities and Commodities Bundle Non-professional - Level I" which gets waived every month for me and whatever else was free (why not, it's free). So far, that has been sufficient for me except for a few contracts I was looking at on ICE, then I subscribed to that for a while.
Hi So if I want to trade the following future mini's - YC (mini Corn), YK (mini Soybean) and YW (mini Wheat) then subscribing to "US Securities and Commodities Bundle Non-professional - Level I Includes all Stock, Options, Futures and Bond markets" be sufficient ? Thanks all!
Is it still working the same way ? Also can you get real time charts with the "US Securities and Commodities Bundle Non-professional" ?
