Not having a military is suicide, having one and using it is very expensive in political capital and in money.... so if you are going to use your military, make sure you get complete results... leave them wondering what happened and unable to ever get the political will to fight you again... we have these quasi-political wars when we could easily go in and have our boot on any enemy in the world in three weeks... I think Israel understands this and they time their military incursions so they don't have to pay political capital... GWB had to pay serious political capital to say "good morning" after he went into Iraq... Anyhow, Magog is Russia is it not? I would guess that GWB needed to make the crisis as big as he possibly could to scare people into cooperating... his biggest hurdle was getting a coalition together...
