Bush: Almost Sent Troops into Buffalo

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Landis82, Jul 25, 2009.

  1. Dispatching troops into the streets is virtually unheard of. The Constitution and various laws restrict the military from being used to conduct domestic raids and seize property.

But that didn't stop Bush, Cheney, and other Bush aides from strongly considering sending military troops into a Buffalo, NY suburb to arrest a group of terror suspects back in the Fall of 2001.

Opposing the idea were Condoleezza Rice, then the national security adviser; John B. Bellinger III, the top lawyer at the National Security Council; FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III; and Michael Chertoff, then the head of the Justice Department's criminal division.

It's amazing that this idea would even be strongly urged or considered in light of the fact that we have the FBI for these kinds of arrests.

Just amazing how the executive branch under Bush and Cheney operated. Just downright mind-boggling.

  3. It didn't stop Lincoln. Are you comparing Bush to Lincoln?

Thats it, do everything possible to get the spotlight off of Obama and what a screw up he has become.

Cheney is a disgusting pig. How are small government supporters supposed to remain loyal to this party?

  5. The Obama supporters know the healthcare plan (otherwise known as the bill to define a decade when it comes to liberal policy) has run into a brick wall. The only thing they can do is distract the ever decreasing general public who are still unfamiliar with the bill.

Must be that "don't mess with texas" attitude.

  9. Who would have Obama sent? It wouldn't have been the racist police since all they do is profile.

I mean these weren't white people, they were people who needed health insurance and cash for their clunkers, and dammit, they were potential democratic voters who need their miranda rights to protect them from ladybugs and caterpillars!

It would have been a great "teachable moment" for Obama.
