Brent vs. WTIC Crude

  1. Are there predictable/cyclical variables that cause the spread to move in one direction or another over the long term?

I believe that WTI is a tiny bit more expensive to process into fuels than Brent. The only reason I see a spread happening is if there's some sort of natural disaster that affects either Oklahoma/Texas or the North Sea.
