ARTIST BEHIND FAMED OBAMA âHOPEâ POSTER DESIGNS PARTY INVITE FOR OCCUPY WALL STREET Posted on October 14, 2011 at 10:43pm by Tiffany Gabbay The same âstreet artistâ who designed the now-famed Obama âHopeâ poster in the soviet-era propagandist style, has just released his latest piece. Shepard Faireyâs most recent creation is an invitation for the âOccupation Party,â which features an image of an afro-clad woman gazing off into the distance, in what is presumably meant to effuse a message of empowerment. The subject bears a striking resemblance to Black Panther and Communist Party activist Angela Davis. As for the party itself, the festivities are set to kick off this Saturday evening, October 15th, in Times Square. The invitation, intended for the âAwake and Inspired,â reads: Partygoers are instructed to wear dramatic white, because âin many cultures dressing in white is a symbol of hope and transition. Think: white suits, dresses, face-paint, glitter, balloons, banners, be inspired.â The invitation also states that at sunset there will be a âmoment that will light the night.â One shudders to think what that âmomentâ might be.
