Will he be fired? Bill Maher Afraid Mohammeds, Islam Taking Over Western World by Ray Rahman | 11:33 pm, October 29th, 2010 Those who accuse the once libertarian Bill Maher of becoming too much of a liberal apologist might want to clean their ears. Maher made a Juan Williams-esque confession on his program when he apprehensively noted that Mohammed has just become the most popular baby name in Britain. âAm I a racist to feel alarmed by that?â Maher asked his panel. âBecause I am. And itâs not because of the race, itâs because of the religion. I donât have to apologize, do I, for not wanting the Western world to be taken over by Islam in 300 years?â His normally boisterous crowd fell silent as the panel responded to Maherâs admission. âIf youâre with NPR,â the conservative Margaret Hoover chimed, âYouâd be fired.â âItâs worse,â Lawrence OâDonnell told Maher. âItâs way worse than what Juan Williams said.â Hoover seemed to agree with this sentiment. Reihan Salam, a conservative analyst with a Muslim name, also seemed irked by Maherâs comments, noting that he âhas some uncles named Mohammedâ that are âpretty decent guys.â Of course, itâs not the name that Maher fears, but the religion. (Any of them, in fact â Maherâs qualms with religion of any sort, Islam or not, are long-standing and well-documented.) Hoover further stoked Maher by claiming that the U.K is saddled with a âfar bigger problemâ than baby names: Sharia law, which she said is creeping into England. âThen Iâm right,â Maher said, taking her for her word. âI should be alarmed. And I donât apologize for it.â And we believe him there. After all, this is the same man who got his previous show Politically Incorrect cancelled when he asserted that the 9/11 attackers were ânot cowardly.â Watch the clip below from Real Time With Bill Maher to see the latest comment heâll probably be talking about for a while (and to see Zach Galifianakis try to cut the tension).
Sounds like Maher took a vacation to Europe recently, got a little taste of that 'multicultural' utopia they have capitulated into over there...
Saw that, pretty funny. He was asked later if his comment would have gotten him fired from NPR he said "yeah it would".
Maher and Williams need to make a visit to the View. Joy and Whoppi will talk some liberal sense into them.
