Anyone know if you can trade backspreads in an IRA at IB?

I'm looking to sell let's say 2 contracts at the money and buy 6 contracts out of the money, for a net debit. Both long and short legs will expire the same date.

I cought CMG at the bottom, calculated my returns if I had put one of these spreads on and am starting to wonder if this is a viable option in an IRA.

ENDP is about to make a HUGE move UP too.

At IB, or any broker, place the order and see what happens. If it goes thru you're all set. If not, you call customer service. Simple.

  3. i would imagine the margin wouldnt be any more than short 2 verticals and a cash outlay of the 4 remaining. As long as the expiration is identical , IRA shoudnt be an issue.
