To this is an obvious extension of obliterating the traditional definition of marriage.
If two men is marriage why not 4 women and a man.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A federal judge in Utah has issued a final ruling that strikes down parts of the state's anti-polygamy law, in a lawsuit filed by a family that appears on the TV show "Sister Wives."

U.S. District Judge Clark Waddoups ruled in favor of the stars of the TLC reality show in December, but the decision wasn't finalized due to unresolved, procedural issues.

The ruling is a landmark decision and a victory for the Brown family.

Kody Brown and his four wives sued Utah in 2011 after a county prosecutor threatened to charge them under the state's bigamy law.

Waddoups ruled that a provision in the law forbidding cohabitation violates the Browns' freedom of religion.

Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes said in February that he intends to appeal.

Polygamy has a long track through history. Different cultures and civilizations had practiced it since the beginning of recorded history.

Gay marriage on the other hand is new, and except for the last few years has never been accepted as a legitimate practice.

While I personally do not support either one (polygamy or gay marriage) I don't believe it is the Federal Government's right to tell us either way.

  4. It does strike me that a law against cohabitation is pretty intrusive. Unconstitutional? I'd have to reread the invisble ink clauses that make abortion a constitutional right.

So what's wrong with polygamy? I thought it was in the Bible...

But it gets weirder. If polygamy is OK, why not a community marriage among 3 guys and 4 women? All consenting adults and such...

Sure, why not? Why not bring in animals and vegetables as well?

the theory that society operated under for years is that marriage between and man and women was a good thing because it was typically the best ways to support and protect children.

when society is willing to go against such an obvious thing and pretend other bonds are equal... society has ceased attempting to be logical.

so how can you discriminate against polygamy or community marriage? thereis no remaining rational basis for "discriminating" against polygamy... that I have read.

    Yes, it is.

And why not? Monogamy wasn't central to the church's notion of marriage until the ninth century.
