The story itself is not that unusual. White guy gets attacked for no reason. This victim happened to be a baseball player, so it made the news. http://cleveland.cbslocal.com/2013/07/27/rangers-scheppers-attacked-on-walk-in-cleveland/ What is startling are the comments to the article. People are mocking the media for failing to report the racial nature of these crimes. We all know if a black player had been attacked without reason by a gang of whites, it would be a Major Incident. Some of the comments are a bit raw, but who can blame them? Obama's constant playing of the race card is producing a backlash.
Where did you see that? It's reported by CBS and on Drudge? In other news, http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2013/07/26/mob-of-teens-brutally-attack-man-in-heart-of-little-italy/ I'm pretty sure he didn't make it up.
Sorry, I have to ask... Is this guy a pussy or is this a general American thing? This dude got punched in the face (in a bar, on the street, whatever), whoop-dee-f*ckin'-doo... Quick, call the press, call the media, call the ambulances, call his Mommy! "I am just lucky that nothing serious happened". What a little girl, honestly. They should send this guy over here to toughen him up a bit. A couple of nights out in a pub in Glasgow and he'll be a different man. http://cleveland.cbslocal.com/2013/07/29/rangers-police-investigate-scheppers-altercation/
Yeah, I've seen you Brits over a game of footie. When I was in Moscow, we used to head over to a pub and I'd just sit back and watch life-long friends get into fist fights because the line judge would call...whatever...on a Man-U player or an Arsenal guy. The ensuing argument would end in a scrap and I'd just shake my head. Say what you want about us "yanks", but rarely do we punch out the lights of our friends when an NFL team gets a bad call.
A lot of locals seem to know what happened and are posting in the comments. My guess is you'll see a retraction later. When was the last time someone got punched in the face in a robbery and nothing else happened?
If you've just seen regular Brits, you ain't seen nuthin' yet. Scots are much much worse. Crazy f*ckers, right and proper.
You're right. I did follow up on it and it seemed to be some bar incident. The point of my post though was the comments to the article. They were really raw. People have had it with the media spin.
I suspect it might have had something to do with the fact that a professional athlete making millions is a rich target for some opportunist who wants to play lawsuit lotto. A pitcher also doesn't need to be breaking a hand in a fight. Obviously, I have no idea what went down. He might have started it and been way out of line, who knows.
