STUDY: FUELS FROM CORN WASTE NOT BETTER THAN GAS BY DINA CAPPIELLO ASSOCIATED PRESS WASHINGTON (AP) -- Biofuels made from the leftovers of harvested corn plants are worse than gasoline for global warming in the short term, a study shows, challenging the Obama administration's conclusions that they are a much cleaner oil alternative and will help combat climate change. A $500,000 study paid for by the federal government and released Sunday in the peer-reviewed journal Nature Climate Change concludes that biofuels made with corn residue release 7 percent more greenhouse gases in the early years compared with conventional gasoline. While biofuels are better in the long run, the study says they won't meet a standard set in a 2007 energy law to qualify as renewable fuel. The conclusions deal a blow to what are known as cellulosic biofuels, which have received more than a billion dollars in federal support but have struggled to meet volume targets mandated by law. About half of the initial market in cellulosics is expected to be derived from corn residue. The biofuel industry and administration officials immediately criticized the research as flawed. They said it was too simplistic in its analysis of carbon loss from soil, which can vary over a single field, and vastly overestimated how much residue farmers actually would remove http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/storie...ME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2014-04-21-04-02-59
I can't imagine the searches our favorite heater-installing queer will need to do to combat your article.
just another examples of the cronies getting the left and its drones to help them suck billions out of the govt.
Environmental issues are the biggest goddam power grab opportunities. Commie bastards and people like Al Gore, the UN, and even the Pope can derive some political power by appealing to a lot of environmentally sensitive people [useful idiots]...
Of course, global warming is not happening, or if it is it's not caused by CO2, so the higher carbon emission profile of this biofuel makes no difference, right? Nice shriek, Max.
Actually, the article perfectly exemplifies how raadical these far left pussies are. Just like when they were told the keystone pipeline would make no difference to the environment, by their own people, yet they plug their ears, and continue to piss away american taxpayers money.
And your reply demonstrates the desperation of the radical right (and Canadian pussies). Any argument (or source), even arguments with premises that contradict the premises of previous arguments, is ever ready to trot out to support rightie memes. I wonder what the journal "Nature Climate Change" position on AGW is... ; )
