AMDs upside imo is to $45 per share. After that it becomes pretty speculative.

The "DELL" rumor is no rumor - it is well known and is priced into the stock.

  3. Rumour or no rumour. Whether the price right now is factored into the DELL rumoour or not. It is a fun stock to trade. It was fun to trade when it was in the 20's. Now in the 40's, it's twice as fun. Good luck trading AMD everybody.

According to market researcher Current Analysis, AMD processor based notebooks and desktops outsold Intel 49.8 percent to 48.5 percent in the month of October. Matt Sargent, Current Analysis research director, said that by outselling Intel, AMD had done "the unthinkable" and that holding such a lead through the holiday season would be a huge win for the company.

Intel, while behind in total units sold, still accounted for 57.6 percent of retail revenues thanks to the higher average selling price of its chips. AMD lagged behind at 40.1 percent. Despite the gains, AMD's overall market share still hovers around 17 percent, displaying the dominance of direct order suppliers such as Dell, who exclusively uses Intel processors in its PCs.

Nonetheless, these gains are important to AMD's goal of reaching 30 percent total market share. Intel's recent slips can likely be attributed to its struggles with foreign antitrust agencies and ongoing legal battle with AMD.

    AMD had done "the unthinkable"

Intel market cap is $127.8 Billions.
AMD's market cap is only $16.5 Billions.

AMD's stock price is still very cheap as compared to Intel's stock price.

I predict AMD will have a stock split later this year.

I agree the future looks rosey for AMD right now. But when everybody starts talking the same way about a particular stock usually indicates the start of a reversal from my experience. This doesn't necessarily mean the stock is doomed, just ready for a correction. The reason all these analysts and brokers are pumping the stock is likely because they are looking to take some profits soon. The Dell/AMD rumor has been no secret (obviously) and I'm willing to bet that news has already been priced into the stock. Not a good buying opportunity IMHO.

Personally I was long on AMD since early Dec, but as soon as the oversold trendline was broken a few days ago I tightened up my stop and got out yesterday.

I'll be watching for a good setup to get to a short position in the next little while.

I knew AMD for 20 years. It'll take longer than 6 months to change my opinion that it is not a good investment. I'm not a broker, ... either. :)
