Al Gore's net worth jumped from $2m to $35m in 7 years

  1. No wonder he has "fallen out of love" with politics. The article puts his net worth at 100m. Astonishing rate of return over 7 years wouldn't you say?

  2. of course profits are only evil when ceos are making it...

  3. Al Gore is my new hero, Warren Buffet watch out! :)

"adding that Gore received Google and Apple stock options before their shares ``went into the stratosphere.''"

Now, why did he get those???

"Now Gore charges a $175,000 speaking fee..."

To make one speech a week is not an incredibly hard schedule, but nets 9 mill a year....

  4. Why pay Al Gore 175K for a speech? Just buy Inconvenient Truth on DVD and play it for your audience. He will pretty much say the same thing in person and you will save $174,985.01.

Also, only a couple of years ago Al Gore got about 100K per speech. I guess Gore's prices are experiencing rapid inflation too.

  5. he's doing so well financially I hear he is thinking of becoming a republican.

  6. He's making a bloody fortune off his environmental views. Of course, Southamerica STILL thinks the guy is going to run for Prez, so his income would certainly drop.

  7. Never underestimate how gullible or stupid people are.

  8. Makes sense when you think of how much money he makes for speaking, how much he made off of the movie and DVD sales as well as book sales. I bet you will be amazed how many speaking engagements he did a year after leaving office and when he was doing his environmental show. Why take a pay cut and add more stress as President, he already is reaping the rewards from his position and stature.

  9. Two of the Gore's inventions are really paying off, the internet and global warming.

  10. What a fabulous achievement!

    Good for him.

He did it his own way, and it's worked out great.

  11. He certainly looks like he eats better since leaving office

  12. Yeah, I think he was in better shape during his public service days. One thing he could do to help stop global warming is cut out the steak dinners when he is on the road.

  13. ...so thats what happens when you play with peoples' fear buttons. Cash to be made!

  14. I'm sure he gets his jollies from besting Bill.

Post Oval office he has an Oscar, a Nobel and $100mm to show for it, while Bill is still sweating it out on the stump with less money and diminishing fame.

I'm willing to bet that those $175K speaking fees, impressive though they may be, did not make him a centimillionaire.

That kind of fortune comes with holding pre IPO equity, and I think the ones he had were labelled GOOG, which to his credit he received 3 years before the IPO.

  15. Al Gore makes millions doing speaking engagements stirring up fear about manbearpig=global warming.

  16. Supposely "The Clintons" have $40million now plus whatever they extorted and have hidden in offshore and Swiss accounts.

How does a couple who never made any money all of a sudden get $40million?

How did Putin get the $40Billion that is claimed he has?

Listen, this whole subprime mess was the ultimate scam. Someone will be buying this debt at 10-20 cents on the dollar and selling it in 5 years for 60-70 cents.

Great way to make a few trillioin dollars in a few years.

    John

  17. I wonder how much Greenspan is worth now with his non-stop speaking engagements.

  18. Yeah, by flying around in a private jet when he could easily be flying commercial, 1st class.

The ultimate hypocrite. He justifies it buy purchasing carbon offsets. What a crock of shit. He still creates lots of pollution he doesn't have to.

  19. Maybe you could buy some more carbon credits LOL . . .
