I doubt Moscow Mitch even allows Biden to confirm a cabinet. Joe needs to rule by executive decree, milk Trump's executive overreach for all its worth and have hypocritical SCOTUS either overrule him and expose Trump's unconstitution precedents or risk being a lame duck president.
Kamala Harris will not get elected president if the GOP runs anybody reasonable. I don't think she would have beaten Trump.
Rule by decree, so says the leftist who has been crying about the fascist in the White House. What is it that you guys have been saying is so, so very important? What's that word again, the thing that's been missing these past four years? That idea that only the Democrats can deliver? Hmmmm, oh yeah, democracy. The fuckin ballots haven't even been counted and filed yet and you're already on the power trip, rule by decree. You and your leftist governors, mayors and the rest have got a taste of this rule by decree during this whole Covid shutdown. Feels good doesn't it. Fuck all that legislative process, just wake up in the morning, call a press conference and dictate the new policy. Yep, now that's how it works in the new era of left wing you'll do as we say "democracy". Yeah, yeah, I know, you're different, the Anti fascist fascists. Different side is the same fucking coin. And round and round we go.
He would only be using Donald's precedent, the actions championed by your side. You know, rule global warming a national security emergency like steel imports from Canada. That sort of thing.
Trump in one term left a ginormous conservative foot print on this country with what he managed to do with the courts. If we can keep the senate, that would be epic. Also, the solid Hispanic conservative voters are encouraging for the next election. Polling will be mostly ignored for the foreseeable future, another positive. A horrible candidate like joe will perhaps set up the gop nicely in 4 years. All in all, its not a terrible day.
Because I liked your post, doesn't mean I agree with everything you posted, but a worthwhile post to read nevertheless... A major disappointment for me is that it will be difficult, I think, to pass legislation limiting the power of the president; something constructive I had hoped would result from our experience with Trump. I want to see the Inspectors General being made directly answerable to the Legislative Branch. It is rather insane to think that Inspectors General of the Agencies and Departments of the Administrative Branch should serve at the pleasure of the head of the Administrative Branch, i.e., the president. It's like the accused being able to fire the accuser.
I'm looking forward to news pages without Trump's name in the headline. Maybe something about foreign affairs, the economy, or a scientific discovery.
