A Conservative Viewpoint on the Positives of a Biden Win

Its no secret I was against Trump - I said it many times how pissed off I was with the guy, and I was really aggravated that the democrats could not put forth a candidate that should have been able to wipe the floor with Trump. Many of my conservative brethren - here and in my personal life - took umbrage with my viewpoint. "Look past the man and to the policies", they said. The problem was that the policies weren't all that spectacular either.

Trump had some victories that I think were real progress: The middle east victories, as an example. Can't take those things away from him. But it is difficult to separate the man from the Presidency. We should look at the man separate, but we can't. An election is a popularity contest. By definition, that means the more charismatic, likeable choice has the best chance. That's just human nature. We can hope that people look at policy first, people second, but they don't. The amount of people who voted against Trump rather than for Biden had to have rivaled what got Trump in office in the first place - the voting against Hillary.

It is just impossible to ignore the abrasive, immature, hyperbolic Trump touting things like "best economy ever!" Who believes that tripe? Sure, you can tout a 31% GDP growth quarter over quarter, but that's only because the economy went down by as much or more in the prior quarter. That's not a success! Add to it your Federal Reserve has printed trillions in easing that has flowed into your stock market - the market you called "A Big, Fat, Ugly Bubble" when you were running in 2015 and the market was much lower, for the same reasons. Do you think we're not going to notice this?

So Trump's done. Of course, if he manages to somehow - and I have no idea how this happens - stay in office through legal shenanigans or pulls a rabbit out of the hat with the states that haven't declared yet, then this whole post looks foolish. So be it. I'll take my chances that this has as much chance of happening as an asteroid strike.

So what happens now? Well, first, the #resist movement now becomes conservatives. I don't particularly like that idea, but that's what will happen. Joe will squeak by in victory, and stories of mail in ballots and sketchy bullshit will continue to come through, pouring salt in the wounds of Trump supporters. Biden won't be a unifying President - for this reason, and because he isn't a strong leader. He may have once been in his youth, but at 78 with obvious early dementia, the clock is ticking.

The GOP will keep the Senate (also not official but likely). This means everything to me, as the crazies calling for "packing the court" can't do it. They're done for now and have to live with the one legacy Trump has that I am thrilled about - 3 justices. The GOP will also revert to fiscal conservativism again because it suits them now that they are isolated. This is also a positive. They won't allow bailing out the states - that's huge, and it has to be very distressing for the states who are on the verge of destruction (and don't kid yourself, there are a few).

Biden won't make it 4 years. I don't believe his health allows it. It'll be like the last years of Reagan where Nancy consulted astrologers while Ron thought he was still in a western. The Democrats will do something. Whether they cover for Joe or whether they usurp him and put in Kamala (or whether he willingly cedes his position as part of a prior deal) the next election will be very difficult for the Democrats. It'll be the Republican's election to lose. Forget about abolishing the Electoral College, and the mid-term elections are likely to be good for the Republicans unless you believe the Democrats will make history in the next two years by successful....whatever.

In the mean time, ANTIFA and other hostile groups will be told to "stand back, stand by" and if they don't comply, they'll get their funding cut off. Racism will be "solved" and only talked about for the next three years because the DNC won't want violence associated with their man's reign. COVID will likely be found to be "less lethal" and shut downs will become less frequent (a good thing regardless of why it happens) because of the same reason - the DNC will want a strong economy for when they have to run in 4 years.

So we'll return to a relatively peaceful time for the next few years - hopefully. If not, they'll get slaughtered in the mid-terms, and they know it.

So sit back, my fellow conservatives. Relax, the end of the world won't come. Biden will be playing defense for the first 6 months, and then we'll have to see how much he is capable of as he continues to go downhill. Its not like he's going to get "better" from this.

Lets get life back to living. Trump will still be around, throwing tantrums on social media, he isn't going anywhere. He's not going to jail, so stop with that stupid shit. He might be bankrupt - but he's been there before. And he'll continue to be a lightning rod for his base, where he might be able to channel into the next GOP presidential candidate.

Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends.

  2. There are worse things than a Biden presidency with a Republican senate. Democrats were embarrassed in the House actually losing seats. Surprisingly gained next to nothing in the Senate. All of that plus a razor thin victory for Biden means no Blue Wave, no mandates for sweeping changes, no referendums, nothing.
An honest assessment of this as it stands today is mainstrean America wants off the crazy train, take a breather and just get back to the predictable screwed up government we all know and love, predictable being the operative word.
The big challenge next year will be trying to undo the damage done by overreaction to Covid, making businesses whole somehow. That needs to be job one.
I too think Joe gets put out to pasture and that happens prior to the midterms in 2022. That may fire up the dem base to try and take the Senate, we'll see.
First things first, address the economic destruction already done.

  4. Biden is basically a do over... last of the old farts as both parties clean house and look to bring in fresh faces for 2022, 2024 and 2028...

That's a great point. Also one of the reasons why there was such a lack of enthusiasm for him.

  6. We are going to see the House pass a lot of bills and Biden endorse them. Then we are going to see the Senate not take any of them up. If the Senate shows an unwillingness to do anything at all it could backfire as it did in 1948 when Truman ran against a "do-nothing Congress". It's probably in their best interest to work with Biden on a few things so that they don't appear as compete obstructionists. If they don't show a willingness to do anything at all it could backfire in swing districts.

I’m happy with the way things turned out. Assuming projections hold, there will be no Senate nuclear option, packing of courts, adding states, tax increases, or FTT in the near future. It will be business as usual with a less embarrassing president in the White House.

  8. Biden can embarrass the USA by being a senile idiot.

Passive embarrassment. No doubt. But not active jerk that seeks out conflict.

  10. Sadly I do not see the future being bright in either party for the next 8 years after the Trump and Biden cleanse.

Dems cannot hang their hat on AOC and others like her since Bernie proved that at any age those tits don't sail. They need the new Bill Clinton type and I don't see them yet.

GOP has a horde of ass kissing cucks from Rubio to Cruz to Graham who sold their balls to Trump and if Biden is official they will have to find a way to forget the past 4 years but we will not. Time to closed the book on the white ball suckers.

Biden is vanilla plain to Trump's wld and crazy ride.

2024 will be a real shit show election as GOP will start off with 20 candidates again....
