I like volume charts as well (thanks to a few guys here) using MultiCharts for the charting. You can use a variety of settings for volume charts, so check them out as well to see what works for you.
THANKS!!...to all the replies...VERY helpful..I noticed no one said they trade off a 1 minute chart...why do you think that is?...thanks for your insight
I used to trade off 1 min chart DAX futures. Once I realized that 1,3, 5 min are not really good presenters of prices action, I switched to volume charts. Think about for a bit, just because 1 or 2 or 3 min bar ends, it does not mean anything significant should be happening. There could be 1 trade in the minute bar, and yet the bar would still be produced. Where volume or tick bars will only be created if trading is going on. redduke
After thinking about it myself as well, the volume charts make a lot of sense if you want to see volume visually represented in your charts.
In addition, volume and range bar charts help to reduce noise for T/A indicators, which can be very advantageous for ATS indicator derived signals.
That is correct. Volume and tick charts reduce noise, so a lot of idicators show clearer picture, that is if you use them.
