Learner, do you where I can get min data for the Mini Nikkei ? I just ordered data from JPX Data Cloud and they said it would be 7 business days, with the holidays that is looking like ~May 16. Any advice ?

You can get continuous contracts in eSignal. 120 days worth should show you everything you need to know about the 225M. How in the world do you trade without intraday charts from OSE?

That is all the data I have, starting March 22. It was good enough to get a feel for the contract but not enough to really get my style tuned. 120 days is more than enough for me to figure out what works and what doesn't over a decent period of time.

So intraday data from 3/22 to now. Not really enough so I ordered minute data from the exchange. I will do the eSignal thing later today. What are you headed for 'Golden Week' ?

I saw your post about no news reports during market hours when trading Nikkei futures except for the monthly BoJ report. I am just starting out and I am wondering which BoJ report moves the market? Thanks

Thanks for the answer. I live in Taipei, so I can trade the day session.

So these policy meetings are the last Friday of the Month correct?

Cool, thanks. I use investing.com, but it is not as helpful. the boj.or.jp will be helpful. I know kanji ( well, Chinese characters anyway ) enough to muddle through other parts of the site.

I have been trading this week, I have been trading the evening session better than the day session. So far I like this contract.
Any advice on trading into a holiday weekend , like next week ?

By the way I really like to travel to Japan, have went to Japan many times, just went Okinawa but not much lucky since bad weather most of the time while I stayed, but good foods and still a relaxing trip.

I plan to use IB to totally automatic trade since I cannot manually control myself to cut lose in day trade future. I still cannot find a good way to determine when a trends start and when there is no trend. May you share your thought? Thanks.

but then I basically don't use any graphical TA and just use math indicator stuff with tested variables that I see ok result from historical backtest through vba in excel.

Hey learner2007, I can tell you have been trading in Japan for decades, and sound like you made a great living from trading! I have read some of your replies and sound like you mainly focus on TA. I have learn most of the common TA and even Elliott wave.

Hey it is been a while. How are you doing with day trading futures lately? I just wanted to ask your thoughts on the soon-to-be listed JPX-Nikkei 400 index futures later this month. The contract size looks good to small traders and the same tick size as Nikkei really made me interested. What are your thoughts on the new futures contract? Would you want to trade it? I hope it does not become another Mini Topix lol

So yeah it's pretty much just another hype the brokerages themselves have created to get more people to pay them commission lol

Thanks for the info. I have just submitted an application for Matsui. Are you trading with them currently?

I've had an account with Matsui since 1998 when I traded options with them. Will move my futures trading to Matsui next week.

      >....traders usually select active stocks and create a watchlist....

I meant active stocks that are close to completing one of the trader's set ups.
